Karachi—General Tyre is committed to produce quality tyres bringing Made-in-Pakistan cars at par with international standards to provide consumers better and secure drive. This was stated by CEO GTR, Shahid Hussain, while inaugurating the training session on safety of tyres in Karachi. General Tyre and Rubber (GTR) Company organized a training program “Tyre Care and Service” for the officials of a local Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), Pak Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC), aiming to impart advance knowledge and technical understanding of tyre safety and service.

The training program, first of its kind towards the advancement of auto sector, will prove to be a milestone for automotive makers for production of best quality automobiles at par with global emerging technologies.

CEO GTR, Shahid Hussain, said that tyre is an important component of a car and its compatibility with the body of vehicle signifies great importance.

Tyre manufacturers play a critical role in engineering the perfect tyre for the perfect car driving, braking and overall road safety and ride, he added. He said that GTR produced high quality tyres not only extend the life of a car but ensure safety of passengers as per international standards that has not only beenapproved by local assemblers but international automotive experts as well.

He mentioned that various teams from Japan have conducted audits to see quality control programs of GTR in action and advised their companies in Pakistan to prefer fitting GTR tyres in different brands.

While highlighting the safety measures taken during the manufacturing of GTR Tyres, CEO GTR said that all GTR car radial tyres are equipped with FULL CAP PLY.

Even the small 12” radial tyres have the steel belts covered by full cap ply, a feature found only on larger rim size imported tyres. The cap ply ensures safety as well as long life.

He advised to make checking of tyres a habit at least once in a month as checking tyres is quick, easy and the key to safety. He informed that an uneven tread wear is caused by improper inflation, misaligned wheels, damaged tyres, or by problems with suspension parts which must be cured on time. Excessive vibration is a sign of a misaligned, unbalanced or bent tyre which is also a safety risk, he added. He said that the under-inflated tyres should be of a high concern as it creates dangerous driving conditions. He suggested to keep a spare tyre with vehicles all the time and urged to replace a worn-out or damaged tyre immediately to avoid accidents.

Man i wouldn't trust them yet....not so fast....they have to prove that it is international standard by..perhaps asking automobile manufacturers abroad to endorse them....or yet prove on a rally circuit....

Apparently 1/3rd market local made, 1/3rd leaglly imported, and 1/3rd illegally smuggled tyres from China, Iran and even India!:woot:

The total market in Pakistan is around 6.5 million tyres which is equally divided into three segments. For instance one third of the market is captured by locally manufactured tyres while the rest of the market is equally divided into legally imported tyres and smuggled tyres.

When asked, he said, the top-selling smuggled tyres in Pakistan are Chinese brands while Indian and Iranian tyres are also finding their way into the local markets.

Its just a statement of a official to promote its company, it doesn't hold anything.

And in reality pakistan imports tyres in large quantity even from India.
