A Facebook post on Hugo Boss shoes that made State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam ecstatic has gone viral on the social media.
The post includes three photos of Hugo Boss shoes made in Bangladesh that made him awe-struck.
"Bangladesh is the second largest producer and exporter of garments - it is old news. Exporting ships or medicine to the US is old news too.
"But the joy that took away my sleep tonight came from the ‘Made in Bangladesh’ shoes being sold at world famous brand Hugo Boss' shop. And not any regular type, but limited edition AMZ Mercedes-Benz range shoes!" exclaimed the minister in the post.
He did not mention Hugo Boss store in which country he saw the shoes.
He also wrote that he now dreams of making something big from the footwear market at Kaluhati of Rajshahi's Charghat.
"Do you think it is impossible?" he asked and answered himself, quoting from Bangabandhu's Mar 7 speech, "You can't keep 160 million people down!!! Bangladesh has surprised the world and it will continue to do so."
The post, uploaded on Wednesday night, was shared more than 5000 times and drew 66,000 Likes and other reactions until Friday midnight.
In the comments, one asked if there is any cure to the trend of Bangladeshis always looking for foreign brands.
The minister replied: "There is no need to find any cure to this. We will rather have to take control of those brands and supply products, through which jobs will be created, and overall progress will come."

Note: The limited edition shoes are retailing around $350 per pair in the UK.
