Gross revenue from all kinds of games in Macau stood at 172.018 billion patacas (US$21.502 billion) in the first quarter of 2013, indicate figures released by the Macau Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau.

Gross revenue from games of fortune or chance or casino gaming during that period was 171.447 billion patacas or 99.67 percent of the total. The remaining games (greyhound and horse racing, Chinese and instant lotteries and sports lotteries for football and basketball) accounted for less than a half-percent of total revenue.

Regarding casino gaming, VIP baccarat and baccarat accounted for 91.3 percent of gross revenue, respectively 115.841 billion patacas and 40.731 billion patacas, left at gaming tables by players.

Far behind were slot machines, with 7.062 billion patacas, and “cussec”, a game using a set of three dice, with gross revenue of 3.170 billion patacas.

At the end of the first half-year six concessionaires operated 35 casinos in Macau: Socidedade de Jogos de Macau (20), Galaxy Casino (6), Venetian Macau (4), Melco Crown Jogos – Macau (3), Wynn Resorts – Macau (1) and MGM Grand Paradise (1). Together they counted 5,746 gaming tables and 15,310 slot machines.(macaunews)

. . . .
We are so poor that we have nothing but only $$.
LOL what do you do with all the money? do you have any statistic on where the money comes from? the vast majority comes from the mainland, I guess.

. . .
Why is Macao still less prosperous than Hong Kong? Makes me think why all those Hispanic/Portunese former colonies are not as developed as former British colonies. I also heard from people that have traveled to Southern Europe that they are not really developed, just bunch of tourist resorts but cities are kind of ******.

Actually the Portuguese tried to take more land than Macau after they have heard that Hong Kong was taken by the UK, but they were defeated by the Qing army.
