Monday, October 28, 2013 - Karachi—The Lyari gang wargroups, Baba Ladla and Uzair Baloch have dramaticallyannouncedcease fire against each other. It would certainly bring letup in bloodshed in Lyari.
The cease fire was agreed upon on the request of Lyari Buzrug (Elder) Committee and perhaps the two rivalgroupshad also decided to grow their strength by staying united in the area. The reunification of the two rivalgroupswouldsavethem from fatal damages as they would be targeting each other while thelaw enforcementagencies especially Pakistan Rangers Sindh would bechasingthem for their arrest or their execution in case of encounters.
Pakistan Rangers Sindh Saturday decided to conduct an extended search and arrest operation in whole of Lyari and for that they had taken positions on allroutesof entry and exit. Heavy contingent of Rangers and Commandos were deployed in Lyari’s different areas.
Just a few hours before the two groups had announcedthe cease fire, Rangers had executed Uzair Baloch’s right-hand, Akhtar alias Akkoo.
On the other hand, Pakistan Rangers Sindh had conducted targeted raids in Dera Rehmat, Hazara Chowk, Memon Goth, Old Muzaffarabad Colony, Gulshan e Iqbal, Mehran Town, Memon Society, Singho Lane, Mohallah Wachani Chakiwara, Behar Colony, Frontier Morr, Gulshan e Zia, Taiser town, New Karachi, Mujahid Colony, Nazimabad No. 4, Mussa Colony, Hyderi Market, Altaf Nagar, Natha Khan Goth, Drigh Colony, New Sabzi Mandi, Kalakot, Lyari,GeneralHospitalareas.
The Pakistan Rangers taking action againstcriminalsarrested 63 hardenedcriminalsincluding Lyari gang war ele-ments and others affiliated with politicalgroupsinvolved in heinous crimes. 162 weapons of including SMGs, Rifles, huge cache of hand grenades, mixed ammunition andlarge quantityofnarcoticsware recovered.
