to be contrary a lot of African civilization has flourished and thrived even before the first European can writing their thoughts. Lower Nile civilizations (Egyptian Empires), Sudan, Ethiopia, Somalia, and even West African kingdoms such as Ghana Empire and Ashanti Empire has flourished and die long before the age of explorations.

Maybe the invasion of Bantus people is the problems for the decline of African kingdoms coupled with European colonization.
