ORLANDO, Fla., June 13, 2013 – The LONGBOW Limited Liability Company, a joint venture of Lockheed Martin [NYSE: LMT] and Northrop Grumman Corporation [NYSE: NOC], received a $90.6 million contract to provide Saudi Arabia with LONGBOW Fire Control Radars (FCRs) for the AH-64 Apache Attack Helicopter.

The contract award includes AH-64E LONGBOW FCRs, spares and support for the Royal Saudi Land Forces Aviation Command. The contract also includes LONGBOW FCRs for the Saudi Arabia National Guard and LONGBOW Mast Mounted Assemblies for the U.S. Army.

“Saudi Arabia is emerging as one of the largest international users of the LONGBOW systems,” said Mike Taylor, LONGBOW LLC president and director of LONGBOW programs at Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control. “The AH-64E LONGBOW FCR's new Radar Electronics Unit provides greater processing power and provision for significant growth while reducing weight and maintenance costs.”

“The LONGBOW FCR team values our ability to provide Saudi Arabia with a product that will promote greater regional security while providing warfighters with the highest level of protection,” said Mike Galletti, director of the Tactical Sensor Solutions-Aviation business unit for Northrop Grumman’s Land and Self Protection Systems Division.

LONGBOW

The LONGBOW system is built by a Joint Venture of Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman. U.S. Army testing shows integrated capabilities enhance the Apache lethality fourfold and survivability sevenfold. The mission equipment package is in production for the U.S. and several international customers. The Apache LONGBOW system is a proven force multiplier that has been battle-proven in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. The LONGBOW Weapon System has been in full-rate production since 1996, with First Unit Equipped in 1998. Nearly 400 radars and more than 14,000 missiles have been contracted for the U.S. Army and international customers. For the Apache Block III upgrade, a new Radar Electronics Unit (REU) will replace two line-replaceable units. The REU will provide growth capabilities to the LONGBOW FCR and will reduce maintenance cost.

LONGBOW FCR

The LONGBOW FCR has a very low probability of intercept. It rapidly and automatically searches, detects, locates, classifies, and prioritizes multiple moving and stationary targets on land, water and in the air in all weather and battlefield conditions from standoff ranges. Target coordinates are automatically available to other sensors and weapons for target confirmation, rapid engagement, and reduced fratricide. Target data is digitally available through the data modem for real-time transfer to other platforms and command posts. The self-contained Radar Frequency Interferometer provides rapid and accurate identification and azimuth to enemy air defense units. High system reliability and two-level maintenance maximize operational availability and reduce support costs.

I believe the RSLF has its own customizations in hands, but would like to see more cooperation with none other than :pakistan:

@500 You remember what I told you about American companies investments in Israel?
Numbers show that Arabic countries combined might be among the Israel's biggest trading partners by indirect investment! :nana:

I'm a GENIUS! :D :nana: But you already knew this! :D :chilli:

I agree that you are a genius, but what Longbow radars have to do with Israel?

Who is saudi massive buildup aimed at?Israel or iran?

None of those two as long as they stick it to themselves. KSA has the right to build up and improve its war machine continuously. The last confrontation with the terrorists in Yemen supported by enemies states DOES justify every contract the RSF signs.
