Local forces in Iraq and Syria

In our multi-faceted approach to defeating ISIL, local forces inside Iraq and Syria are playing a significant role. These local forces have seen the destruction and the horrors of life under ISIL and so for them giving up their homes is not an option. In the recent months, Local Forces in Iraq and Syria have systematically diminished the enemies control near cities such as Fallujah, Iraq and Manbij, Syria.

In addition, the global coalition continues airstrikes against ISIL and provides training and support to local forces. These efforts and local operations have greatly restricted enemy movement, influence, and revenue. Recently, liberation operations have enabled 20,000 students to seek education at Tikrit University.
