Nadeem Babar: Who sent Dar abroad?? Where is GIDC money??
He will nor answer the real question.
Today other people are buying LNG on $4/mmBtu and we are buying at $19/mmbtu.

Hi,

Who are these other people and from where are they buying?

Brent price is around $50 today, are you saying Pakistan is buying LNG on a 38% slope? If yes, please provide references to these two assertion by yourself for a fact based discussion.

Pakistan has not awarded tender from emergency bidding for January cargoes, also non of those were priced $19/mmbtu.

"The state buyer for Pakistan - one of the fastest growing LNG markets - did not award an emergency tender seeking three cargoes for delivery in January after it received high prices, according to sources."

JKM (Asian spot LNG) had hit six years record high ($13/mmbtu) couple of days ago, when Vitol sold a cargo to Trafigura for $13.05/mmbtu. I had told you the reasons for the higher prices in another thread too, in which you were asserting figures of $15.28 & $12.95, which in all fairness, were quoted by suppliers but were never awarded, and now that has somehow jumped to $19/mmbtu?) .

As of today, Asian spot LNG forecast for Jan is $12.2/mmbtu and for Feb is $9.88/mmbtu. You can read the following article published yesterday for understanding market trends better.

"The Japan-Korea Marker, the benchmark for spot deals in Asia, rose to $12.40 per million British thermal units Tuesday, according to Platts, which assesses the price. Prices have risen 81% in the past month and are up 564% since bottoming out on April 28. The assessment fell to $12.12 on Wednesday when it rolled from January to February prices."

How you are coming up with these figures ($4/mmbtu vs $19/mmbtu), is mind boggling, at least for myself. Anyone else gets it?

Few hours ago, Petroleum ministry announced they will be buying 12 cargoes for Jan 2021 delivery for (an average of) $6.34/mmbtu.

These are even lower than the netback price forecast for East Coast Australia (Queensland) market which is AUD 8.73/GJ/ AUD 9.2/mmbtu (~US$ 7.1/mmbtu).

You should appreciate government for trying to be transparent. They are engaging and trying to answer opposition's slender by facts and numbers. I have not seen this level of transparency and public engagement before by any previous governments. I only wish one day PTI can start court trials and recover money gobbled by these monsters and provide relief to masses. Engaging and educating public is a good start, but sooner or later the same public will expect government to go beyond these twitter and talk shows battles and take concrete steps in holding these scums accountable.

Bro obviously you did not watch the program.

Your whole argument is based on 1 or 2 cargoes, I told you many times and the logic is you take an average for the whole year when comparing spot.

1)

The total LNG purchases by this government in 2 years is 20% cheaper than the long term contract Khakan Abbassi signed. To be exact 238 million dollars difference.

2)

As mentioned by @farok84 the total average for the winter (Dec Jan this year) procurement 23.5 cargoes finalized comes at an average price of $6.34. Where as for the same period (Dec Jan 2017-18) in Plmn government only 18 cargoes were procured at average price of $8.

I would like to expose one more glaring propaganda by Plmn, which you conveniently spread on this forum. The use of oil based thermal generation.

3)

Out of total power generation this year only 3.9% is from oil based thermal power plants, whereas in Plmn last year 20% of generation was oil based generation.
