On September 15, 2018, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Ruan Shanren, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Vietnamese Communist Party and Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee of Ho Chi Minh City in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

Ruan Shanren welcomed Wang Yilai's chairmanship of the 11th meeting of the Steering Committee on Sino-Vietnamese Bilateral Cooperation in Ho Chi Minh City, saying that the Steering Committee plays an important role in planning and developing bilateral relations. I have visited China many times and chaired two steering committee meetings. To date, I am still very concerned about China's development and Vietnam-China relations. Wang Yi said that China and Vietnam are not only good brothers linked by mountains and rivers, but also good partners for win-win cooperation, and even more like-minded comrades.
