Secretary Defence Lieutenant General Asif Yasin Malik (Retd) has been conferred upon with the honour of Induction in a formal ceremony at National Defence University, Fort McNair, Washington D.C. Hall of Fame. The "Hall of Fame" is a prestigious and visible means of honouring NDU graduate who have attained, through merit, the highest position in their country's Armed Forces or government. This is the first-ever recognition for any Pakistani government official.
While speaking on occasion, Senior Director NDU, John Carlton said that NDU is proud of the achievements of Lieutenant General Asif Yasin Malik (Retd) since his graduation from NDU-USA from June 2002 till July 2003 and is delighted to see him return to the campus, says a press release issued here on Thursday.
Asif Yasin Malik, a graduate of Pakistan Army Command and Staff College and holding a Master's degree from National Defence University, Islamabad, graduated as an International Fellow at National Defence University Washington DC and earned Master's degree in Strategic Resource Management in the year 2003. He was the Class President of the International Fellows during the Fellowship.
Yasin Malik remarked, "I am honoured to be inducted in the NDU International Fellows Hall of Fame". He also expressed his thanks to the NDU for providing a Pakistani, the opportunity to be inducted on the prestigious platform. During the induction ceremony Pakistani flag was hoisted and guest speakers including US Senators, Commanders of European Union, and former Chairman Joint Chief's USA gave key note addresses in different sessions of the ceremony.
Yasin Malik was honoured by Major General Gregg F. Martin, President National Defence University. Members of International Fellows Hall of Fame, Alumni, Course participants along with families and friends of Inductees also attended the ceremony besides senior officials of Embassy of Pakistan in Washington.-PR
