LHC issues notices on plea to ban MQM

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Thursday issued notices on a petition seeking a ban on MQM and arrest of its chief, Altaf Hussain, for allegedly speaking against the ideology of Pakistan in his speech on May 12. Justice Muhammad Khalid Mahmood Khan issued notices to the federal government, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority and the MQM and sought replies from them within two weeks. As the petitioner had not nominated the PTA as respondent in his petition, Justice Khan advised him to do so as it had a role in facilitating a live speech in Pakistan from abroad.
