Siliconindia in Bangalore

A report from India’s Bangalore-based Siliconindia magazine recently reported that Bangladesh is the fifth highest source of annual remittance from Indian expats amongst the top 15 countries. Indian expats living in 15 countries have remitted a total of $57,233 million. It also says a total of 500,000 Indians live and work in Bangladesh and they sent home last year as much as $3,716 million.

Most of the Indian expats work in Bangladesh’s burgeoning readymade garment and textile industries as well as in numerous NGO’s (non-government organizations), the report said.
Money is the most basic requirement for our well being. Most of the Indian parents sent their children to other countries for their higher education and for job purposes.
In fact, the amount of salary a person earns not only depends on his hard work and dedication but also depend on the country he is living in.
There is a certain amount that Indian parents get from their children who are residing in other countries. Yahoo has listed out 16 of those countries that Indian expats send their money to their family in India. The names of the countries follow as per their ranking.

Apart for that, in fresh trouble for Indians in Saudi Arabia, the authorities in Saudi Arabia have refused to accept new passports issued by Indian diplomatic missions.
Saudi Arabia authorities have declined to transfer data from old passports to the new ones submitted by Indian expatriates for updating, saying they have not received any official information on modification (with PTI inputs).

B.S. excuse. You chose your destiny in 1947 to become East Pakistan. In hindsight, it was a bad decision (or not, according to some BD members here). Just because you ended up on the wrong side of a genocide and rape-orgy (and economic exploitation) does not mean that you can write them off somehow. You chose those 24 yrs, and the decision did not work out as well as you might have hoped.

At the end of the day, all it is is an excuse, and not even a half-decent one at that. Even British Colonialism of India/BD would have been a better excuse, because at least you didnt choose that...
Thats like saying USA had 200 years more to develop than India, so India is justified in being that poor compared to USA. It is not!

You don't seem very bright.

BD can make a direct comparison with India as the starting conditions were every similar apart from the fact that India had a 24 year head start.

Since 2007, BD GDP/capita has gone from 50% to 70% of the India level.

Cannot wait for the day when BD has higher GDP/capita than India.

kudos to AL govt for getting their economic priorities right, but you should know BD enjoys certain advantages over us in export due to preferential treatment given, once its out of LDC, that wont apply anymore.
Your export is not broadbased (relies on specific industries too much) that can take a big hit if field is levelled.

It seems you are not very bright.

Let me put it this way: you guys made a CHOICE in 1947 of creating a country which ended up screwing for over financially until 1971. And that is what makes economies grow/shrink, national level choices. One you made for 1947-7 1was a bad choice, and one you made after was a good choice.

.
BD is just over USD 1K compared to India's USD 1.4K.

Now, take into account that India had 24 extra years to develop itself then we know which is the weaker economy here.

24 years or whatever, BD has much less per capita than India, hence, my argument in post no. 8 is valid.

And the actual figures in USD are:

India: USD 1489
Bangladesh: USD 752

GDP per capita (current US$) | Data | Table

.
@UKBengali am sure you know migration due to economic reason happens not because of disparity in per capita income but access to better paying jobs.
If a bangladeshi doctor can earn more money in bd he will stay there even if India's per capita income is nearly twice of bd.
A north eastern Indian would seek to work in bd rather than mumbai because he can earn more without travelling to far.

The argument that there are many illegal Indians in bd hence its no big deal bd illegals in India is a good one, but I would prefer both govt remove illegals.

BD GDP/capita is currently over USD 1K dude.

You cannot debate with someone who gets the basic facts wrong.

You are a simpleton aren't you:lol:

I am not trying to deny that BD made a choice to go with Pakistan in 1947.

The fact is that India has only a USD .4K lead in GDP/Capita despite the fact that it had 24 extra years to develop. This goes to show the much more effective BD economic system over India.

Indian economic system is a fair bit worse than the BD one

India is the only country outside Sub-Saharan African where vast numbers of people still starve to death.

Just the fact that BD has average life expectancy of 70 years when compared to 67 years for India should tell you something.

You are right but BD has around another decade till the point is reached than garments cannot power BD economy.

BD has many other industries like electronics, shipbuilding, pharmaceuticals and IT that will be in a position to maintain growth in the decades to come

The link I provided was from World Bank website, a direct link, showing 2013 data. :)

Dude, I would have posted BD government data but frankly I am tired of doing this with Indian after Indian now.

Think about this: if BD was so poor when compared to India then why does the average BD'shi live for 70 years when compared to 67 for an Indian?

that does not invalidate the fact that there are millions of bangladeshi illegals in India. Bangladeshis go there to earn money not die in poverty.
There are 1 billion Indians, and large number of them are poor, so obviously we have huge number of poors. Economic migration happens due to economic opportunity available.
For example many Indians are in africa even in places which are way poorer because of the economic activity they can do.

Dude, I would rather trust World Bank data than BD Govt. data or UKBengali data. India's per capita income is almost double of Bangladesh's per capita income.

I repeat, the actual figures in USD are:

India: USD 1489
Bangladesh: USD 752

World Bank Link: 2013 data: GDP per capita (current US$) | Data | Table

Are you for real?

World Bank, IMF all rely on official government data. There is no way anyone apart from the government can accurately estimate the size of a country's GDP

It seems that the World Bank has been lazy and not looked at the latest data produced by BD.

I am done with you dude. Good bye.

India has a negative perception among BD Muslims.

It is seen as unclean, full of starving masses and of fundamentalist Hindus.

Apart from BD Hindus, you will not find anyone interested in going to India.

A trophy for you for that wonderful line marked in red.

Now, I am waiting for a proof of that authentic BD Govt. data. :coffee:

And I am not done with you yet, so don't run away.

that is your perception, not rest of starving bangladeshis, just because India has higher number of starving population does not deter bangladeshis from jumping the fence. Remember felani ?
Even guns dont deter these people, I am pretty sure its not because bangladeshis 'love' us, rather its because they can get gainful employment which they might not get outside few urban clusters in bd.
I know situation has rapidly changed since 2007 and I hope it further improves and they get more opportunity in their home country.
I am pretty sure you know the facts and just trolling, because most bangladeshis know this to be true. Unless of course you have never been to bd.
