As you people have noticed, China was recently criticized by some media for not donating for the suffering in the PH "generously". Therefore, I spent sometime for doing a little research... so here is the result:

Firstly, let us go back to 2011, while storm Washi was attracting Ph.

The Japanese government provided 25 million yen ($320,000 USD) worth of relief goods, such as water tanks and generators, for victims of the storm.
The United States provided $100,000 in funds to support relief efforts.
The Chinese government provided $1.1 million in financial aid.

and then, let us go back to 2008, while Wenchuan earthquake is tearing China apart:
50 million.
4 million.
1 million.
500 thousand.

Bro, u r serious.
Im happy China provide aids to PH and help their relief efforts. The truth is Chinese help them, that's enough.

@Viet
And I realize that the US has donated less than many Chinese local companies for the Wenchuan earthquake, even Yao Ming has donated more than the US government did ($ 815,000).

Have you ever seen a article like:
Wenchuan Earthquake: US gives less aid to China than Yao Ming

Why would China need donation??

India has rejected aid from countries during tsunami and other disasters, But in case of Philippines this nation needs aid and help.

What kind of chinese logic and thinking is this??

Why not?
Over seventy countries pledged monetary donations or other assistance in response to hurricane Katrina. Kuwait made the largest single pledge, $500 million; other large donations were made by Qatar ($100 million), India, China (both $5 million), Pakistan ($1.5 million), and Bangladesh ($1 million).

  • China offered $5 million in aid for victims of Hurricane Katrina. If needed, the Chinese government also is prepared to send rescue workers, including medical experts, officials said.

This aid thing to USA is a symbolic gesture since USA is a 16 Trillion economy, But Philippines is a different case.
Speaking of India, can you share me some information about the aid that India gave to the Philippines?

India already sent a C-130 which carried around 15 ton of relief materials..most probably more similar kind of missions will be carried out before India will send a Navy ship full with relief materials and most probably, couple of helicopters along with it..

how much are those in monetary terms?

Looking at the history of gifts, donations, magnanimity or contributions to disasters reliefs so to speak, I believe we are not behind or ahead of anyone else. We are just there to share a part of global contribution for the needy. We are judging the situation and intensity/amount of our contribution on case by case basis

I'm kind of glad they tried to spin this aid issue into a news item. There is currently an intensive western media propaganda offensive against China, but if the best they can drum up is a non-story like how little China's aid is, that shows they're running out of material.

China's response should be just to ignore it. The USA sees the pinoys as just a pawn, weak and ineffectual, but maybe irritating enough to act as a distraction and divert China's attention and energy. To China, the PH is not a credible threat, and should not be allowed to occupy our valuable attention. We should focus our cross hairs on the USA, and if the USA is crafty enough to dupe the PH into moving itself into our line of fire, then we need to reposition our angle and retarget the USA.

Precisely, even more accurately. China herself is also victim of Haiyan Typhoon.

Haiyan toll rises in Guangxi, Hainan - Xinhua | English.news.cn

The resources shall be more accurately pour into our own country to help our own people. Countries unaffected like India and US help them is more appropriated.

China by already giving some help to Philippines is already a massive gesture. You see the West will never report much about Guangxi Haiyan and they will prefer to talk about China small aid to Pinoy.

How much did China send to the U.S. when Hurricane Sandy hit last October ?
