You know me I ask the tough questions

So , with Russia , going up against Turkey , putting Pakistani interest at Stake as Pakistan is generally neutral with both countries.

How does the JF17 Thunder engine supplies come into questions , with Pakistan not being able to make a god damn engine locally

Russia obviously up against NATO , and now Turkey directly

Where does that puts the JF17 Thunder program how many engines have we ordered in stock via China?

Is the JF17 Thunder program under a risk due to its dependence on Russian Engine ?

What other power plant options we have , realistic replacements in next 1-2 Years

I just did not wanted to beat around the bush , what is happening to our JF17 thunder program now that Russia has gone

Rouge Nation

Considering that Pakistan is not at war with any nation how do we make sure we keep the supply lines open for Power plant for JF17 platform in short and long run

If we have 1,000 engines on order or stock that is great but otherwise what is the plan B

Obviously , since we are neutral nation we have good relations with all countries even Intolerable India but at some point we need to evaluate the risk due to Power plant purchasing

The military is quite , mellow on discussions about the issues

We are not involved in ISIS war and have nothing to do in this war and are already fighting a war on terror in our country and in no manner not even 1 % chance is there that our JF program will be affected by this war

And in no manner it's a tough question

Russia's Engine and other sales are Business ventures. For them to go to war, they need money. They may still choose to press on their business partners to side with them in a war, but that would come at a cost for them (Russia) as well. AT this point in time when the Big Oil is also pretty low, the chances of Russia undermining its clients in non-oil areas is slim to none.

Besides, if they pull the plug on engine sales now, future customers will be wary of such actions. They will demand monetary compensation for such breach of contracts.

.
And what does Russian problem with Turkey has anything to do with Pakistan? In case you didn't notice Turkey is not Part of Pakistan nor is Russia. So please share with us all, what inspired you to ask this question.

So we r not out of the "Sanction Prone" zone!!!! That is why in so many other threads I keep on insisting -- our policy should be dictated by our wants and needs not of our erstwhile brothers near and far.

From strategic point of view maintaining close ties with Turkey is vital as a Nation for Pakistan.

So anyone stating that such relations are not important does not understand international diplomacy.
Turkey has been nation which we have trusted the most traditionally , together with China.

So its natural that when there is conflict in Turkey , our government should step up their diplomatic game.

Becasue no official word has emerged from our Government or Military , on the crisis and how they see relations with Turkey or Russia , and their natural stance

So risk to JF17 Thunder program is very real , as we do not have a replacement engines for the fighter jets

While its true Pakistan - Russian economic side has developed , so its important to maintain good ties with all nations

But at same time relations with Turkey are equally important

we have already got 500 engines in china
just see the eight para in the link
Paris Air Show 2015: JF-17 fighter flying with indigenous Chinese turbofan | IHS Jane's 360
btw i know about these things when they were signed at 2009 (although publicly announced at 2010)
although bad news is that pak jft blk3 will come in mid 2016 but pac are just near to get the hand on rd93MA just pray that we get this engine before time

.
We Can also buy engines from U.S.
JF17 program will continue and we have some alternative available for engines. China is also in the list.

We should have stock of 2,000 - 3,000 JF17 thunder engines , just in case for local and international sales perspective

However 500 is good short term need fill gap

It would be ideal if we get a proper power plant manufactured in Pakistan with Chinese help if possible may be we should just send our engineers to work on the Chinese engine prototype

I mean we can't have 2 National Programs effected due to lack of engines

JF 17 Thunder program -> Russian Engine
AL Khalid Tank -> Ukraine power plant

Indirectly its bad for business

If India can be buddies with Israel and Iran then surely we can get along with Russia and Turkey both.
