Hello. I decided to create information threads once a week at particular subjects for publics knowledge. As most of us doesn't know. I'm starting with US Aircraft Designations.


A - Ground Attack

B - Bomber

C - Transport/Cargo

E - Special Electronics
Installation

F - Fighter

H - Search and Rescue/Helicopter

K - Tanker

M - Multi-mission

O - Observation

P - Patrol

Q - Unmanned

R - Reconnaissance

S - Anti-Submarine, also Spaceplane (can operate within and outside of atmosphere)

T - Trainer

U - Utility

V - VIP/Commercial also Vertical Takeoff and Landing

X - Special Research/Experimental

Y - Prototype

W - Weather Reconnaissance

To teach it's system to all members:

A-10 Warthog, A for Ground attack. Ground Attack Aircraft Warthog.

F-16= F stands for fighter, Fighter aircraft.

RQ-7 Reaper= R for reconnaissance, Q for unmanned, Unmanned Reconnaissance Aircraft.

Air Force One's actual classification is VC-25A. V stands for VIP, C for transport. VIP Transport Air Force One.

UH-60 Blackhawk, U for utility, H for helicopter. Utility Helicopter Blackhawk.

E-3 Sentry, E for Electronic. Electronic Sentry.

SH-60 Seahawk. S for Anti-submarine, H for helicopter. Anti-Submarine Helicopter Seahawk.

B-2 Spirit, B for bomber. Bomber Spirit.

QF-16. Q for unmanned, F for fighter. Unmanned Fighter Fighting Falcan.

RF-4. R for reconnaissance, F for fighter. Reconnaissance Fighter Phantom.
