Less than 5% of India’s techies are ready for higher end AI and cloud computing work

7 of India’s biggest IT companies including Infosys, Wipro and Cognizant are laid off 56,000 engineers in 2017. 2017 layoffs were double the level in 2016. This is because they are not prepared to adapt to newer technologies. Less than 5% of Indian techies are equipped to handle high-skilled jobs.

For several years now, Indian IT firms have anyway been moving away from labor-intensive projects towards more remote and technology-based solutions such as video conferencing, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence (AI). This has resulted in hundreds of entry-level roles like data entry and server maintenance becoming obsolete.

Nearly one-third (700,000) of the low-skilled Indian IT workers are at risk of losing their jobs by 2022.
Hiring was cut as well with entry-level openings having more than halved in 2017.

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Infosys, two of India’s largest IT companies and once leaders in job creation, reduced their headcounts for the first time ever. Even mid-sized players like Tech Mahindra retrenched several employees.

The USA Protect and Grow American Jobs Act classifies any company that has more 15% of its workforce working on-site as “visa-dependent.” Indian outsourcing companies sometimes have over 50% of their manpower working on-site.

India provides spectrum of IT services be it BPO's, tech support, maintenance of systems, administrators, to high end sophisticated software's and tech development, 5% of workforce is more then enough to deliver tools and tech which later on supports billions and provides jobs to millions.

putting up a headline trying to project it as negative won't gain anything, if you want to know more try searching of startup ecosystem in India, you will come to realization that Indian startups have raised more money and backing then most of the nation's has even seen, you name a pioneer company if they have a R&D division then they will have a development centre of same in India, which does not happen if you don't have proper talent.

Do you have any idea how whats the % of people work for AI globaly out of total IT guys globally?
Secondly taking your 5% count will still make Indians the largest pool of workers in AI and ML.

Nothing will help the dog eating piss drinkers.
They are a lost cause since their nation is getting exposed by all and sundry. With their economy tanking, their only relief is boasting on forums, beating their non-existent chests.

There seems to be little bit misconception about the report,It says 5%,5% of what?population?as far as i can see the heading it say "Less than 5% of India’s techies" :D
btw another request,before posting youtube video link,make sure you have listened it very well,and have idea about the speaker's educational background,you are totally aware of his mentioned references,and can reason these two with are you trying to prove. :enjoy:
