The ships will be in Pakistan within two years. Money and resources are spent better in the training of crews for the new very large ships.

Since our Type 054 are a few years away , might as well go for some second hand option , for fill gape scenario or Lease out few units

We need 4 Ships for temporary Lease of 5 years

Since they are inducting alot of ships , I am certain they will be decommissioning few assets here and there plus check out international market for

• Used frigates
• Used OPV
• Used Missile Boats

First, leased military assets cannot be used in war. According to reports India didn't/couldn't even put its leased nuke subs on alert. Why waste money?

Second, China will not divert any of its operational naval assets away from its South China Sea front. It needs everything there.

We are already low on Foreign reserves and Indian elections are really near after which they will stop all this aggression drama for next few years, we should wait for what we have ordered instead of leasing.

Actually Pakistan should invest in capabilities to make their own ships. Infact Pakistan can make its own Missile and Gun Boats, so no point in acquiring them from other countries.

The italian ships is no different then what we have now , for our Navy's need it is a good purchase if available on used goods basis

Mounted on the foredeck is an Oto Melara 127 mm/54 gun

The ships also carry the Albatross missile system, with an octuple cell capable of firing Sea Sparrow or Aspide missiles

The ships carry a supply of 24 missiles, and the system is reloaded by a Riva-Calzoni Automatic Handling System, which is capable of loading up to four missiles at once, making virtually all the missiles in the magazine ready to be launched.


After the turret there are two CIWS DARDO, with two 40 mm/L70 Bofors guns. They have very rapid mechanical systems, and depots with over 700 shells, and can fire around 600 rounds per minute


Also on deck are four Otomat anti-ship missiles, capable of striking a target 180 km (110 mi) or more away, with a 210 kg (460 lb) warhead. They are fitted over the hangar, where there are two AB-212 helicopters ASW multi-role machines

These ships have also have several electronic systems: one radar air and surface search RAN10S (160 km (99 mi)) is placed over the smaller tree, a radar of navigation and surface search SPN703 is fitted on the main tree, where a navigation radar is present as well, and finally, three radars: one RTN-10X for gun and Aspide control, and two smaller RTN-20X for the DARDO systems, all fitted in the forward superstructure, separated from the aft by the funnel and the heat dissipaters. As to submarine search, there is a VDS DE 1164 sonar, and DE1160B hull mounted. EW component is focused on Elettronica Spa MM/SLQ-746 ( [2] ) and two SCLAR rocket-launchers that are capable of launching chaff, flare, and HE rockets up to 10 km (6.2 mi).

For us getting a OPV vs Italian Ships I think the Italian ship is miles better option

The additional improved F-22Ps will be joining the fleet before the Type-054s so no need for any other stop gap. These F-22Ps will likely replace the aging Type-21 frigates. As per rumors these will have VLS and better anti air capability.

Additionally PN is inducting Milgems from Turkey and Type-54s from China. The numbers are more than the ships needing replacement so total surface fleet numbers will increase.

Well the Ships are there in case , in my opinion a great pick up for Pakistan Navy who are always short on ships

These are fairly large ships size of OHP

• Armed with Same missiles which Pakistan already uses ASPIDA
• The radar package looks decent
• The rear is protected by a Missile + CIWIZ combo
• 2 Helicopters (Anti Submarine role)

These ships add more depth to Pakistan Navy
