This example shows why gun control is important. Guns should be limited to few in any civilized society. The purpose of a gun is to kill. A gun is not a decorative device. It is designed for one purpose and one purpose only. Killing.

Therefore I have never understood why guns should be in the hands of anybody other than law enforcement, military etc. Pakistan needs to go for "zero" gun policy with a "no gun culture". Think about this. A rich, prosperous and mightiest country on earth has regular episodes like this - all because of easy gun availability poorer countries like Pakistan will never manage to control voilence if they don't tackle easy gun availability.

RIP, that is shocking and un expected. Speedy recovery to the injured. Unfortunately here, not much we can do besides improve security at these resorts and provide better ways for people to exit. According to reports the shooter shot from a room unto a concert which was barricaded by a fence. Which made it difficult for people to initially escape until a truck driver attached a latch or something and tore it down.

He's not right wing or left thing. He's just a man gone crazy. Of course though some bigots have no interest in this incident(even though it is a large massacre) until they can associate it with Muslims. ISIS cares about fame and money, and willingly will lie for that, so much for being a 'divine' 'Caliphate'. This pathetic terrorist group and it's followers are so detached from reality. And they determine 'piousness' by the gun, not by demonstrating piousness. Rather just kill anyone who argues against them being pious, no different than dictators.

Guns are a hobby and culture here, and in many cases very necessary depending where you live or work. Of course concealed weapons(handguns). You are not allowed to purchase a fully automatic weapon unless you are part of the military or FBI or other agencies. He must have acquired the weapons illegally. We have gun control here, you required to go through many background checks among other things. So that is not the issue. Unfortunate isolated incidents like these can't be avoided. Me personally though, don't see a reason for a gun unless I lived in a dangerous area which required it. I don't care about the gun hobby either, but many in this country do.

The so-called Islamic State group has released a statement through its news agency saying it was behind Sunday night's mass shooting.

Police had previously said that they did not believe the gunman - Las Vegas local Stephen Paddock - was connected to any group.

They said they had no idea what Paddock's motive or belief system was and described him as a "distressed individual".
