Multan: Senior politician Javed Hashmi has suggested the government to make Lahore an independent province, the sources revealed today.
He said this as he was holding a press conference here on Saturday.

He also said that he is going to announce joining the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) soon, the sources added.

According to the details, the senior politician maintained that Lahore must be made a separate province because all the budget of the Punjab province is being utilized on this one city while the other cities of the province are being disregarded by the provincial government.

The resources of Lahore should be utilized only on Lahore while the sources of other cities should be utilized on them, he asserted.

Javed Hashmi also sais that Punjab is neglecting the other small provinces which is not a good thing for Pakistan, adding that if Punjab is divided into small parts then no problem, but Pakistan can’t be divided into parts in any case.

I have supported creation of new provinces but quite frankly I doubt any province would accept being cut into smaller provinces considering the federated nature of pakistan.

Agreed that the govt should and could do a lot more on the south sector.

Here comes the question. 2009 18th amendment grants autonomy to provinces making federal basically a bridge between provinces. Each province gets their share from the budget and the provinces can also tax their own people and can sell resources to other provinces aka the trade of Punjab and kpk of electricity and wheat.

So how is Punjab neglecting other provinces. The Punjab govt or the kpk govt or any other govt is under no obligation to do anything in the province of somebody else. The federal you can say but this old slogan about blame all ills on Punjab is getting old especially after the 18th amendment. It seems hashmi hasn't forgotten those copy paste speeches.

Washed up politician who literally destroyed his own career. If he joins N then I hope N rejects him. Can't even win from his own constituency.

Punjab is already broken up into fairly well administered districts, why not combine a few and make new provinces, e.g North, South, Central, East, West Punjab.

Also Interior Sindh needs to be separated from Karachi desperately, and Balochistan should also be split more imo, since most of the development budget is funneled into the cites rather than the rural areas near the border and south.

KPK should incorporate FATA and I think should stay that way until the region is brought up to national standards, rather than the stone age hell it currently is.

Also GB, and AK should just become full provinces

Godspeed to this idea ! Every division of Punjab is fed up to the core. You cannon loot all the resources of Punjab to maintain Lahore dea'n batea'n n what not.

Declare every city a state with an elected mayor by the city council, looking after its administrative and financial matters. No need for these good for nothing dco,s and a.c's. Besides , decentralized police , the recruitment must be made from the rank of a trooper------- earn it all the way up to the post of dig.

every city state's d.i.g should be made answerable directly to the mayor in addition to that they need to be transferred inter-city states after every 1 or 2 years.
