The Punjab government has removed Umar Sheikh from the post of Lahore Capital City Police Officer, it emerged on Friday.


Sheikh has been replaced with Ghulam Mehmood Dogar, who has served as a police officer for 14 years.


A notification issued by the Punjab Services and General Administration Department and signed by the chief secretary, stated: "Muhammad Umar Sheikh (PSP/BS-20), Lahore Capital City Police Officer (in his own pay and scale) is hereby transferred with immediate effect and posted as Deputy Inspector General of Police/Deputy Commandant, Punjab Constabulary, Farooqabad against a vacant post."


The former CCPO has had his fair share of controversies during his short term. In September last year, the then Punjab IG Shoaib Dastagir was removed after he stopped working in protest against alleged comments made by Sheikh.


Sheikh, during a meeting with senior police officers, had allegedly spoken against the provincial police chief. Dastagir had reportedly met the prime minister and the Punjab chief minister and sought a probe into the alleged misconduct by the CCPO and appropriate action. Otherwise, he had asked to be transferred.


The police officer also sparked outrage earlier this year when he made remarks implying that the victim of the Lahore motorway gang-rape incident shared responsibility for her rape.


After the woman was gang-raped by two 'robbers' on gunpoint in front of her children in the Gujjarpura area, Sheikh had pontificated that the victim had failed to take due precautions before setting off for her journey.


At the time, the PTI-led government had decided against removing Sheikh, despite repeated calls for him to be replaced.

A person who cannot even string a legible sentence together is pointing fingers at Imran Khan who not only was a world cup winning captain and greatest alrounder of his time also holds a degree from Oxford University in Philosophy, Politics and Economics. On top of that even before entering politics he made a world renowned cancer hospital and an international standard university. Can you even get a job as a janitor at Oxford?



Like I said, please post your credentials/education then we can assess if you have the requisite auqaat to be barking the way you are. Considering your English standards, spelling, punctuation etc I don't think you are educated enough to be a janitor, even that needs basic educational credentials.

he was replaced for saying things that every other hypocrite thinks and does not have balls to say it. Few years back a toronto police office lost his job because he stopped a car and came out a young girl in skanky dress, cop said you going to a party dressed like this and then complain someone rapes you....these think should never be said openly only felt inside.

He accepted on TV that IGs and CCPOs were transferred because they refused to vacate a plot of his brother-in-law. This CCPO achieved that feat but court struck down his action in first hearing.

Should have given him at least 6 months IMO. He made a positive impact regarding police reforms in general populace.

But after few days, another woman was raped on gun point in front of her husband..

He blamed victims to hide his incompetency.

PMIK was not ready to kick this culprit from his job.. May be some generals gave advice to pm to remove him..
