Kuwait Orders More Patriot Missiles Worth $655 Million

Raytheon Co has won a $655 million contract to supply Kuwait with two more PATRIOT missile-defense systems.

The company had hoped to wrap up about $4 billion in missile-defense deals in the region by year end, but the negotiations has taken longer. It also hopes to sell the system to Qatar.

Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates also operate the Patriot missile. Raytheon was last month awarded a $1.2 billion deal to supply Oman with the system.

These type of air defense missile systems are not meant to intercept rockets in the first place.
