Know why you may have to shell out more money on rail fares soon

About time. Anyone running a business establishment of services or manufacturing, knows that operations, technology etc cost money.

The 'votebank' class of voters think that everything comes from the skies and that government means unlimited resources.

If Indian Railways has to reform, prices will rise. And if it means enhancing rail transport and infrastructure, then so be it.

long time sir, How are you ? and yes, If we need better services and good transportation, then raising ticket costs is inevitable.

Few years back I used to work in Pune and would travel to Hyderabad frequently.
A Friday night bus ticket would go for anywhere between 1200-2000 depending on demand and people happily paid for it.

Sleeper in train was around 300, third AC was around 600 and 2nd AC was around 1000.
Small increase in these fares would result in huge back lash and all along people won't say a word on bus operators looting openly.

The way I see it, if Railways induct more trains, maintains their train well and provide facilities in trains and stations, most affected are these private bus operators, since it would cut into their profitable business.

Would I shell more money if I get to travel in clean train and the stations are maintained well? DEFINITELY.
In fact I would be more than happy if the govt increased charges of 3rd and 2rd AC by 25% or more, provided they use the money to develop railways.
