King of Pakistani Street Food - THE BUN KEBAB of Karachi, Pakistan! | $0.22 For a Burger!

100%. McDonalds, KFC and others are absolutely filthy.
I dont venture near KFC or Mcdonalds; I only support my own country's businesses - Chicken Licken/Nandos/Ocean Basket/Steers/Mugg & Bean/Fishaway/Romans and tonnes of local hard working enterpreneurs. I dont want to give money to those who take money out of the country.

That unfortunate incident happened at an up-scale restaurant in zamzama

On topic, well this is one street food i will love to try out in Karachi. Have eaten it elsewhere but i have always heard that bin kababs in Karachi are special, Tariq Road i suppose?? Well, next time i visit Karachi i am surely going for it!! Its already embarrassing that i haven't tried these yet being the food lover that i am!
In lahore, bun plaster near secretariat, krishan nagar is also famous too.. Ask anyone and u will be shown the rt way. Its probably better than the bengali at defence chowk.
My stomach was able to tolerate both and that itself is a rarity.

Probably more sanitary than when you order something from Mcdonalds or any other fast food place and have your food spit in. Being serious, btw.

They did research on the McDonalds

https://www.cnbc.com/2018/11/29/mcdonalds-touchscreen-kiosks-in-uk-contain-traces-of-feces.html

When it comes to ordering at a McDonald's, using a traditional counter over a touchscreen kiosk may be better for your health.
A study by U.K. newspaper Metro found gut and fecal bacteria on touchscreens in all of the chain's restaurants it surveyed. It took samples from the screens in eight branches and found that they contained coliform bacteria, a group of microorganisms found in people's intestines as well as in soil and on plants.

Any recommendations on where I can find bun kababs in Islamabad, at a clean and preferably upscale restaurant?

Not looking to get sick :)

The only way to eat a bun kebab is from a street vendor.

Yeah McDonald's and KFC staff aren't really known for their hygiene no matter which country, I've heard stories from my local store that once one of the staff his own special sauce into someone's food because they had pissed him off. :bad:

PS: Bun Kebab from Tariq Road are the bomb.

what is the receipe for the kebabs.

It's not much different from a shami kabab except for the ratio channa dal to minced beef which is about 50:50. And the kabab is wrapped up in fluffy egg white. To be honest it's the chutneys that make bun kabab special, not the mini kabab it self.

I make the large pattie - mix up sheep plus good amount of fat, coriander seeds, chilli pepper, black pepper and a bit garlic or add in mint.

for the sauce home made peri-peri sauce works miracles.
