NEW DELHI: BJP on Friday dissociated itself from the views of Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar that Muslims will have to quit eating beef and said this was not the party's stand.

"The views expressed by Khattar are not that of the party. I will talk to him and will advise him. It is wrong to say like that," parliamentary affairs minister M Venkaiah Naidu said, adding that it is not correct to link anyone's eating habits to religion.

"This is not the BJP's position ... It is not correct to link eating habits to religion. People have to keep in mind the sentiments of others and eating is a personal choice of people," he said.

Naidu said no civilized person will support the killing of anyone for his eating habits and termed the Dadri incident as "highly condemnable". The Prime Minister and BJP chief Amit Shah have also expressed their disapproval of the incident.

He, however, said the Dadri incident was a law and order issue concerning Uttar Pradesh and its chief minister Akhilesh Yadav and the Samajwadi Party government should be questioned on it, instead of putting the blame on the BJP-led central government.

The parliamentary affairs minister also denied that intolerance was increasing in the country and said that such incidents have been taking place in the past too.

He alleged that there was a "systematic and malicious campaign" to derail government's and Prime Minister's focus on development and growth of the country.

"There is a systematic and malicious campaign against the BJP-led government to divert its focus from development and to derail Prime Minister Narendra Modi's efforts of making India develop and progress further," he said.

Naidu also termed the protest by writers who returned their awards as "selective" and questioned how many of them had resigned when Emergency was imposed in the country or when the 1984 anti-Sikh riots took place in the aftermath of the assassination of the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and Sikhs were massacred in Delhi.

Khattar is the short form of khatta tamatar. So what else can one expect? :cuckoo:

It would have been better if CM has applied his energy in controlling his administrator as they are out of the control of present govt and people are not satisfied his soft style of governance

.
I think there are sections in BJP who are anti Modi factions who are trying to create problem for him...These cheap BJP MLA's who does not have potential to win any election by themselves should understand the mandate...They should understand that people voted for making a clean Gov..Not to decide what people will eat and not to eat..

Are these guys are crazy?? With this kind of irresponsible statement, i am sure BJP and NDA is loosing Bihar election...And i feel they BJP deserve to loose...

It's the usual media quoting out of context, I heard what he said there was nothing wrong in it but as usual media is giving a spin to his statement.

I posted Khattar's comment you can judge it yourself. Regarding what Naidu said, he first raised the objection that what Indian Express printed is wrong but when asked "suppose if it were true" what would you say.

First of all he a CM does not how to handle a media, then he should simply say something like NO response...Either learn how to manage Media or better quit the CM Post...

Let us be honest, although i am writing in support of BJP, but the late statment of Modiji is something which even the rightist people like me did not like it...What kind people BJP is turning into?? I understand that law and order is a state subject..But it is also a fact that the silence or somehow meak criticism of this dadri incident by BJP is shown in poor light...This incident should be outrighly rejected from the same day when the incident has happened so that it could have stopped giving any impetus to pimps in media like NDTV and other outlets..

So be honest friends...BJP is not refelcting in its action what it should have done in Dadri incident...Me like supporter will keep on supporting them, but my mind says something is wrong...

Again, i would like to reiterate that I oppose minority appeasement by the so called pseudo secular parties but that should not be misunderstood that we should start treating badly to our minority brothers..That is not the inentions of the people who votes BJP to power..If BJP miss this oppertunity, they are going to loose all the election in state as well as other places going forward...I think if Bihar election is lost, Amit Shah should be shown the door...He is a good statergist but i think he does not have any high moral ground to become a president of the party and lead from the front...

I agree with your point that CM's or for that matter other ministers shouldn't stop giving sound bites to media persons.

As far as Dadri incident is concerned, BJP can't help it they have far too many MPs who make politically incorrect statements and media loves to interpret it to their liking.

Exactly...So It is time for Modiji to step in and kick the a** of those MPS who does not how respect the citizens...Otherwise, BJP is slowky loosing the popularity among educated people..It is seen as the party with so many constraints...

Well for that media needs to be made accountable, they can't be allowed a to have a freehand to blow issues out of proportions. I hope jaitley wakes up before a major riot breaks out.
