A Russian company has withdrawn from plans to build Turkey’s first nuclear power plant following tensions between Moscow and Ankara over issues including the conflicts in Libya, Syria, and Nagorno-Karabakh, a columnist at Turkish newspaper Dünya said on Saturday.

Turkey and Russia have stepped up economic cooperation in recent years, including the joint venture to develop Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant in southern Turkey.

The landmark deal to build the 4.800-Megawatt facility was signed by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin 2010, but may now be in doubt as the two leaders find themselves at odds over a series of foreign policy questions.

Inter Rao, one of Russia’s largest public energy companies, withdrew from the project following a board meeting on Oct. 26, Kerim Ülker said.

The move comes after Turkey’s military intervention to support Azerbaijan in its conflict with Armenia over the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region, traditionally seen as within Russia’s sphere of influence.

Despite only holding a one per cent stake in Akkuyu, Ülker said the significance of the decision came from the political connections of Inter Rao’s chairman Igor Sechin, who is Putin’s “de-facto assistant”.

“It is remarkable that Inter Rao, which is under the management of Igor Sechin, known as the second most powerful name in Russia, has withdrawn from the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant project. Especially in the immediate aftermath of Turkey's support for Azerbaijan in Nagorno-Karabakh,” Ülker wrote.

Pakistan should come forward and make a nuclear plant for turkey. Pakistan has acquired in-depth knowledge especially nuclear use for civilian purposes. Pakistan has a history of making and operating nuclear reactors successfully on a smaller scale. Turkey and Pakistan should join hands to develop a power plant for it instead of looking towards others. their cooperation will give them much needed independence from looking towards other countries for help. their cooperation may be under the cover of IAEA .so that their enemies may not create any hindrance in such joint ventures in such a sensitive field.

What is the status of the S-400 deal? Has Turkiye received all the equipment?

Russia imposed arms embargo on Turkey after Turkey backed Azerbaijan against Armenia. They have some components but the rest were not delivered and never will be. Meanwhile, US imposed F-16 and F-35 embargo on Turkey after Turkey bought some parts of S-400 from Russia.

.
S 400, I have seen some news of its arrival and turkey training on it. but have it gone in full operational status is unknown.

S400 was fully deployed and tested in recent exercise so please stop posting garbage. Also no arms embargo has been imposed by Russia that is total horse $hit. Your posts kind of remind me of that annoying moron Austin powers.

As per reports, Turkey has already received the S-400s and has tested them successfully against Greek F-16s.

It's only a test. Doubtful they'll IOC it.

.
why turkey took S400? because American fluid nature especially in changing friends to foes for its own benefits. Turkey thinks seriously that American has practically gone against it in Syria. so It can go beyond this too.
If the turkey has tested S400 against F16, it was meant for anti-American systems right from the start.
Pak American relation is also an example of how quickly Americans left Pakistan to join hands with India, and now India and America become partners pushing Pakistan with FATF to grey list and blacklists. Turkey doesn't want to be caught unprepared against any aggression from western and American allies in the disguise of any lame excuses.

Pakistan and turkey can start with 150 mw electric candu type reactor we used to call it something else back in the days but trust me this type of reactor is the most juiciest of all with an on facility reprocessing unit all under I.A.E.A safeguards promptly.

.
Which reactors has Pakistan made
Pakistan got the ability not only to manufacture and commission small atomic reactors up to 50MW but also to fabricate their uranium and plutonium-based fuel rods. Pakistan has also the ability to reprocess the used atomic fuels. all these are indigenous facilities Pakistan has developed for the country's different needs. Pakistan has achieved the capability to produce different types of atomic isotope for the treatment of different diseases.

Above all Pakistan has prepared some special Toys for Indian aggression.
