What's new

Kerala Corner

.
I thought both were good, there is a perception of Modi and his Govt as a superman and his Govt as a super Govt. But there are some hard realities, such as current economic scenario and current economic growth....... Modi has not come with a magic wand to change things around over night..... What is more important is, this govt is more or less continuing the policies of previous government...... Personally i was upset as there wasnt any change in income tax structure, being a salaried employee, we are the people who pay the tax on time (we dont have an option by the way :P).... But we need to understand that you cant satisfy every section of the society...... Probably you can expect big reforms in next year or the year after........

I was more happy with railway budget...... Thank god they are not planning any new train..... most of the tracks are saturated and lot of stations are saturated.... What we need is improving the productivity of the existing tracks. Hope they are gonna work on signalling system to improve the productivity, The aim should be to bring it to the level of suburban trains, if they does existing tracks can improve 30% (or above) productivity and can accommodate more trains with less delays.... Another point is the emphasis on improving the facilities....... You know what? all the important stations in Kerala has escalators and lifts to access platforms.....(calicut, Trivandrum and Cochin north and south, some of them are under construction)..... these stations are equipped with x ray scanners and metal detectors......Slowly and steadily they are improving the quality of stations...... Another point is cleanliness......You go to any station, the cleanliness has been quite good....... I am happy they are working further on this......

@nair

what do you think of the budget? Railways and general? I thought it was quite good.

this government has been lucky.

The oil prices plummeted, and a lot of other factors became in India's favour.

They shouldn't moan really. The North-Eastern states have a legitimate excuse of being ignored.

Kerala so far have ran up massive deficits.

@nair You see Karnantaka, Tamil nadu and Andhra Pradesh on their knees and hands begging for investment.

In the years to come, it is possible Kerala will be the worst state in South India overall.

Yeah that reduced the fiscal deficit to a great extent.... By the way after the budget the govt has raised fuel prices by 3 rupees as the taxes are increased practically the prices are increased to 4 rupee..... More over it helped them to remove the control over diesel prices, with out people feeling it they removed it fully when the fuel prices were <40 $

do you know what's funny? even after the corporates were given tax cuts, they still grumble.

Do they not know that there are hundreds of millions of poor people in India?

Healthcare spending, education spending by India is actually below the required level.

We do not deserve it..... our govts are soo idiotic we do not deserve it......What kind of investment you expect???? If we are provided with investment Where do we have the land to accommodate them? Even if we find land to accommodate, what happens to those agitations and court cases???

Everyone is selfish..... The ultra rich are worried about the 2% tax imposed on them........

Oh that's right.

Kerala lacks land. So kerala's economic development is locked into services anyway.

Well, it's not like Kerala still hasn't maximised our services capacities.
