Kazakhstan starts delivery goods to Vietnam by train via China transport corridor

The first consignment of Kazakh grain departed from the port of Lianyungang (China) to the port of Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam). The train containing 32 containers loaded with 700 MT of Kazakh grain departed from Zhaltyr station (Kazakhstan) in late January, reports UkrAgroConsult.

The main target is not only to supply the cargo to Vietnam, but also to test the delivery route to Southeast Asia through China. Thus, Kazakhstan cannot only export its own commodities, but also supply goods of other countries of the Eurasian Economic Community (EAEC) to Vietnam and other Southeast Asian countries along “Kazakhstan-Lianyungang (PRC) – Vietnam” transport corridor.

The company in Vietnam which purchased this wheat lot (720 MT) intends to test grain quality and increase the imports of Kazakh wheat if results are good.

further rail shipments will take the shortest possible route between Vietnam and Kazakhstan without transshipment in the Chinese port of Lianyungang.

. . . . . .
From Kazakhstan to Vietnam, isn't there a train route ?
ha ha ha what a question. Ok all three countries Kazakhstan, China and Vietnam have railways. running from North to South, from West to East. China has the best rail system. But there is a problem: different track size in the countries. There is a need to work out a solution.

Lianyungang is a seaport in the Mid-East part of China, they say they have lots of train route to Europe countries, but it shut down one by one after running few trains to test the water. I have bad experience about that port!

@TaiShang

Gauge is the problem but so far it did not deter the launching of more than 40 rail lines to Europe.

So far, track lines between China+Europe - Russia+Central Asia - Vietnam+Mainland SEA - India+South Asia are all different. I guess we have to take it as it is because it would quite costly to try to unify it.

For shipments from China through Russia-Central Asia into Europe, for instance, two time, they need to unload and upload the cargo. Still, it is much faster and cheaper than sea transport.

The first shipment is a test. Next Kazakh grain shipments will go direct to Vietnam without making pause in a Chinese port. I wonder how much the Chinese authority will take as transfer fee? A high fee will kill the business.

I hope the transfer fee will be minimum as well, so the route will keep alive.

Maybe you can try the India Supa Powa route. They have been selling that after China's OBOR was launched.

India has a great potential. VietJet will launch a direct fight service to the country this Summer. I am pretty sure we will launch cargo train service to India soon in the future.
