The government of Kazakhstan says the country is ready to host a fresh round of talks between Iran and the P5+1 - the US, the UK, France, Russia, and China plus Germany-, Press TV reports.
The announcement came after Iran indicted its willingness to choose another country, instead of Turkey, as the venue for the multifaceted talks with the P5+1.
On March 31, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said that the P5+1 and Iran had agreed to meet in Istanbul, Turkey, in April for a fresh round of multifaceted talks. European Union diplomats, however, said that the venue for the negotiations is still under discussion.
Unnamed diplomatic sources told Press TV on April 4 that Iran has asked Iraq to serve as the venue for the new round of negotiations between Tehran and the P5+1.
They added that Tehran's decision relates to Turkey's recent stance on Syria.
Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi stressed on Wednesday that "this issue has to be agreed on by both sides," explaining that "Baghdad and also China have been proposed" as venues.
Meanwhile, Iraq's Foreign Ministry also confirmed Tehrans willingness for Baghdad hosting the meeting.
The ministry said in a statement posted on its website that Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari received an Iranian delegation on Tuesday evening.
"The (Iraqi) Foreign Minister welcomed the Iranian proposal and expressed Iraq's readiness to host the meeting, asserting that he will conduct the necessary contacts with the relevant parties about the proposal," the statement added.
Iran and the P5+1 have already held two rounds of multifaceted talks in Geneva in December 2010 and in Istanbul in January 2011.
While Tehran says it is ready to continue talks based on common grounds, it has stressed that it will not give up any of its rights.
