Kashmiri separatists hint at calling off six-month long strike

The change of strategy comes amid unease and fatigue displayed over the prolonged shutdown by the people who are increasingly defying the call.

Amid unease and fatigue displayed increasingly by people over shutdown, Kashmiri separatists Wednesday hinted at calling off the six-month long strike call from the beginning of next year, saying they would instead focus on long-term plan of programmes and initiatives. In a joint statement, hardline Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Geelani, chief of moderate faction of Hurriyat Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and JKLJ chief Mohammad Yasin Malik said they are working on a plan for transition from weekly protest calendars to a long term-plan of programmes and initiatives.

They said the announcement of the “transition plan” may take some more time as “most of the leadership has been caged and all kinds of hurdles put in place to thwart and sabotage our every move by force”. They stated this while issuing a fresh protest calendar for the next two weeks, during which the number of strike days has been scaled down.

While people have been asked to observe complete shutdown on Fridays and Saturdays, there will be no strike on rest of the five days of the week till December 31, as per their call. The change of strategy comes amid unease and fatigue displayed over the prolonged shutdown by the people who are increasingly defying the call and going about their work for livelihood and other aspects of normal life.

Actually there is a limit of hardships people can take...at the end of the day they have to eat....now apart from spoiling the whole academic year of students these mofos has not achieved anything...

And what about the mofos who use live ammo and Pellets on unarmed civilians including 6 year old kids? That's pretty sissy like behavior right there.

Crowd control might be an alien term to you but not other parts of the world...Also ask the same thing when your govt use live ammunition on your own people....i am sure they have some magical weapons that only explode right in the mouth of a terrorist and refuse to explode when there is a 6 year old in vicinity....hypocrisy has its limits!!

Also when it comes to name calling i am no sissy...so mind your language when you talk about security forces...like you i also have lot of grudge against your Army however i have the decency to respect men in boots.....if you can't then stay away from the discussion....

This comes from a country which uses fighter jets to bomb civilian areas.:disagree:
Your language shows how good ur culture is. If you cant have a discussion using civilized language dont bother responding to the thread.

What happened in Kashmir goes way beyond crowd control, let's not kid ourselves here.

When the police in Pakistan used live ammunition, it sparked mass protests, and nearly toppled the government; The only reason why the government survived was because the military was in no mood to see chaos ensue. The issue still hasn't died, and it has become one of the biggest black marks on the current government, one that it will never recover from.

Your claims of hypocrisy are artificial.

Also, calling protesting civilians as "terrorists" is something you'd hear from a dictatorship, not a democratic nation like India...but I guess things change.

Bound to happen, people can only do so much without resorting to violence, and Kashmiris are sick of violence, which is why they chose nonviolent protest.

Kashmir won't be solved anytime soon, especially when we don't see anything close to a renewed dialogue.

I am still wondering why pics , videos and reports of kids killed or injured come from the protesting muslims either from Palestine or from Kashmir or from Chechnya or from Serbia or from Gujarat or from Mayanmar .

I think they are the biggest consumers of propaganda in whole world due to very low literacy rates .

You're the indian posting on a Pakistani forum so spare me your tantrum dummy

They were supposed to be deprived of all facilities given by the government. What happened to that ?

Few more days and the people (normal majority) would have revolted against these separatists as they have to feed themselves and their families, they don't get money from across the border like the separatists do.

This is about 6 year old hit by pellet guns...are you saying that security forces purposefully targeted 6 year old...?? Pellet guns were used for crowd control...if not then plz suggest why were they used??

And when innocent people die here in Kashmir Indians celebrate and blast fire crackers..right?? Look the point is that when you are using ammunition on population it is not going to differentiate b/w a 6 year old, women, innocent etc etc...it is unfortunate but no-one can do anything about it...

Your claims of hypocrisy are artificial.
How?? Your govt. is still using live arms on people...and so is mine....there are innocent casualties on your side as well...so when you single out our side for killing of kids then how is this not hypocrisy??

Also, calling protesting civilians as "terrorists" is something you'd hear from a dictatorship, not a democratic nation like India...but I guess things change.
Sorry but where did i call protesting civilians terrorists?? The problem is that we don't read the posts properly and then years and years of mistrust makes us believe anything that we want to....

That is exactly what i said...There is a limit to hardships people can take....as far as renewed dialogue is concerned then let's forget about it for some time...not happening and even if it does it is gonna be a sheer waste of time...

Hurriyet strikes shows people of valley are with them, but its time hurriyet should bring change in its policy, strikes will not hurt occupiers in anyways it effects Kashmiris the most, occupier pigs dont care if you live or die, they just need your land,

its time Kashmiri should find ways to hurt stinky occupiers in their stinkhole so they die in their stink..
