AHMEDABAD: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has criticized the Indian government for asking Pakistan to accept the statement of the lone surviving gunman in the Mumbai attacks as evidence, the Daily Times reported on Tuesday
‘There is no law in our country that would consider the statement of an arrested person before a top-level police official as evidence,’ he was quoted as saying.

‘Despite the situation, we are trying to convince Pakistan to consider the statement evidence. This is very much contradictory,’ continued Modi.

India’s ruling Congress party dismissed Modi’s remarks as ‘irresponsible,’ the Press Trust of India reported Monday.

Congress spokesman Shakeel Ahmed told a press conference that Modi’s comments seemed to be from ‘an advocate of Pakistan.’ Ahmed went on to ask for a clarification.

Tensions between India and Pakistan have heightened following the November 26th/27th attacks in the Indian city of Mumbai which left over 170 people dead. India blames elements within Pakistan for the attack while Pakistan has asked for greater intelligence sharing and evidence to aid in the prosecution.

LOL is that what he said? The "Block" Option surely seems to come in handy.

Modi would never go out of his way to blame the Indian government on a case that's against Pakistan. Logically, his statement about a captured individual being used as evidence is very legitimate. I'm actually amazed he was able to come out with such a statement.

Frankly, Modi is right, Kasabs statement cant be taken as evidence. But since Pakistan has verified that he is a citizen, then this statement is useless.

sir there were more than just his comment to prove him Pakistan's citizen. but still its all open as most of these proofs may not legitimate in Pakistan's law.

thats why i think most of the proof are meaning less but on the contrary once even one of the proof is agreed upon it will start the chain reaction. lets see how this drama unfolds.

Congress led by Mukherjee is on a warpath against Pakistan (Mostly for domestic consumption leading up to elections)
Modi needs to diss Mukherjees efforts. Surely he cant say , go easy on Pakistan but he can try to discredit Congress efforts
