KARACHI: Former military dictator General (r) Pervez Musharraf says it is country’s misfortune that it could not get capable leadership since he relinquished charge in 2008, ARY News reported.

He was addressing gathering of All Pakistan Muslim League’s youth wing programme at a local hotel here.

He said no leader could come up in Pakistan to take the country on the path of progress.

What democracy has given to Pakistan, asked the former president. He said industries were being shut in the country for security reasons.

“The time I left, I didnt even imagine that leadership of the country would be so bad that we will continue to plunge into crisis,” regretted Musharraf.

He said people dont care about democracy or dictatorship, they want peace, basic needs and progress of the country.

Musharraf bemoaned that Kargil’s military success was converted into political defeat by the then government in 1999.

“In Kargil, we had grabbed the world by the scruff of the neck.” He said he returned to the country to form APML to resolve issues of the people.

That is true and is more accepted approach to look at that saga.

what military success? Pakistani military strategists were so clueless that they admitted 'not expecting Indian Air Force counter attack'. That was their explanation for losing that battle. It was military incompetence and political suicide that Pakistan committed by its misadventure in Kargil. In fact it was so pathetic that Pakistan's supreme leader and COAS Musharaf was openly and publicly caught in his lies by the Chinese recording his phone conversation (where he was cackling about 'having it claimed for the mujahideen' ...To this day Pakistani leaders military and civilian, are amazed how the Indians got a hold of that recording and publicly shamed Musharaf by maing it available on the internet

Why he didn't inform anyone before doing Kargil??

How Indians were able to get hold of that recording?? Did the Chinese give u that?? US?? just curious??

atleast this should tell him,he had to follow elected leaders orders and not the other way around.
I wont take anything from this loser who disowned his own soldiers.he lies through the teeth.

his just pitching to be leader again

mans idiot has no idea about geo politics thinks a nuclear weapons on its own gives some status.

WRONG just ask north Koreans

Why'd they give you tho???

Thats the best possibility among all the options. India/US having such a powerful network in china which can record conversation of a foreign military chief seems a bit unrealistic.

They might want to prevent a nuclear war and hence helped India to expose Pakistan. (May be)

is having a successful military coup in the shadow of kargil war considered military success?
