KARACHI: Historian Gul Hasan Kalamati gave the people of Karachi a lot to think about on Saturday evening when he said that water and electricity meant for Karachi were being redirected to Bahria Town and DHA City.

Mr Kalamati was one of the many speakers invited by the Irtiqa Institute of Social Science to talk on the military farms in Okara and the Bahria Town.

The title of the meeting was ‘Snatching from the needy to give to the greedy: a meeting to condemn atrocities committed by the government by dispossessing people from their centuries old tenantship/ownership’.

I smell left wing socialist scum...because Electricity and Water are resources which are billed for use..is its not possible to "snatch it from the needy and give it to greedy" they are not a free fund facility or charity.

DHA is managed by civilians and retired soldiers..

BTW - Is there still not any technology to make the sea water drinkable? If it is than why DHA & Bahria not utilizing it, if it's not than wtf scientists are doing?

Look at UAE.. They are burning billions of $ worth of oil to concert sea water into drinkable one for entire cities .. I'm sure Karachi can have a similar thing.. Maybe run on coal? Or better management ., water reservoirs,dams,tanker mafia etc.

No in Lahore DHA till last year it was 12 hour load shedding in summers. In my area it was 6 hours only. My relatives are in Karachi DHA same happens their.

DHA on average has at worst around 12 hours when the rest of karachi was looking at 18 hours.

Divide the whole Karachi district into 3 or 4 separate cities and make this whole district a separate province or autonomous region. Karachiites should not be forced to suffer just because the rest of Sindh decides to vote for PPP in every freakin election. Even Karachi's budget which it receives from Sindh is disgustingly tiny. Karachi in the future is going to have incredible problems of water issues and climate change, the saeens of PPP are inept to handle such problems.

Don't misguide I'm living even in cantt area and load shedding schedule more better than other areas of Karachi, DHA have there on generators to produce the electricity than there is another thing.
