Karachi escapes terror bid as truck-load of explosives confiscated - thenews.com.pk
KARACHI: The Excise Police claimed to have seized truck-load of explosives at the Sindh-Punjab border saving the provincial capital from a potential terrorist bid, Geo News reported Sunday.
According to details, Excise Police acting on the cue of intelligence agencies, intercepted a truck on its way from Peshawar to Karachi at ‘Dera Mor’ (Sindh-Punjab border).
The cops recovered tonnes of explosives hidden in the secret compartments of the Karachi-bound truck.
The police confiscated different types of weapons including 53 hand grenade, 15 RGS grenades, 2 rocket launchers, 20 each electric and non-electric detonators, 2 suicide jackets, and 4 sets of walky-talkies .
The police have also taken three suspects in custody.
Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon claimed that the weapons and explosives were to be used for carrying out terrorist attacks in Karachi.
