KARACHI: Bank robberies are on the rise in the provincial capital of Sindh with criminals making away with millions in cash. Robberies are well planned, coordinated and within minutes the criminals are in and out of the bank.

However, on Friday a criminal’s attempt to steal from a bank located in the Sakhi Hasan area was caught on CCTV camera and can only be described as a comedy of errors.

The robber entered the bank and went up to the teller’s window but could not load his gun. He next tried to break the window with the gun but failed again.

The robber then climbed up on the counter and managed to drag the window down. He then proceeded to steal whatever money he could find.

The CCTV video showed the robber almost exiting the bank but then remembering that he had left his gun behind on the counter. The criminal also had difficulty fleeing when he could not start his motorcycle.

Despite all these errors, authorities were unable to stop the robbery from taking place.

I still can't believe it. It reads like a scene from a dark political satire. What were the people inside the bank doing when people were pushing his bike? It seems very possible that local police are also involved by taking bribes. A robber cannot escape in such a silly fashion. There has to be some mistake made by the journalist.
