ISLAMABAD: Kabul has protested Islamabad’s decision to start flag-lowering ceremonies at Chaman border crossing in Balochistan, describing the move as “unjustified and contrary to previous pledges”.

Frontier Corps (FC) Balochistan has announced it will hold flag-lowering ceremonies at the Pak-Afghan Friendship gate in Chaman every Friday.

The pattern of the ceremony would be similar to the flag-lowering ceremony held by Pakistan and India at the Wagah-Attari border. However, Afghanistan had refused to take part in the ceremony on the plea that it does not recognise the border and calls it “Durand Line”.

Afghan foreign ministry says it has lodged strong protest over the lowering of the flag by the Pakistani security forces at the zero-point of the “artificial Durand Line” and called it a “provocative action”.

Flag-lowering ceremony to be held every Friday at Pak-Afghan border

“The Islamic Republic of Afghanistan wants to make it clear to Pakistan that since the relations between the two countries are passing through a sensitive period, such action could further deteriorate relations and increase the mistrust,” an Afghan foreign ministry statement said on Friday.

During the first ever flag-lowering ceremony last Friday, FC Balochistan had announced it would hold the ceremonies every Friday at the Pak-Afghan Friendship gate in Chaman. Sector Commander FC North Brigadier Nadeem Sohail and Commandant FC Chaman also suggested the Afghan authorities to organise such ceremonies.

Speaking at the ceremony, Brigadier Sohail said, “Pakistan and Afghanistan are not only neighbours but they are also Muslim brotherly countries, who have a history of friendly ties”.

The Afghan foreign ministry, however, urged Pakistan to “focus on fight against terrorism and extremism instead of such actions,” which it said was the main hurdle in the way of peace and security. The ministry also opposed Islamabad’s decision to make visa compulsory for the tribesmen to visit Afghanistan and described the decision as unilateral.

Yes, only during Taliban's regime ... and that's a very short history. Most of the history you have been a hostile state towards Pakistan.

We don't care. Protest all you want. We built the gate despite the protest and your ambassador's threat of revealing the secret behind Durand line ( here is the secret. There is no expiration date. Oh wait that goes against you).

Sounds reasonable. People get some entertainment and a dose of patriotism.

Neither we nor the world cares about what you think about the Durand border. Its the recognized border by every country. These guys will never let go of the past and will always work against us. We may have peace with india one day but Afghanistan will always see us as their enemy.

When weren't they passing through a sensitive period. When you were voting against us joining the UN? When you were raising pashtunistan? When you were invading bajuar? When you were holding training camps for baluch terrorists? Or when you were inviting Russia to not only kill and slaughter your own civilians but also threatening us? Or when you were hiding and training TTP elements until they morphed to become ISIS and started attacking you ( once again thanks for bringing isis into the region) ?

Quite crying. Either partake or shut up!

Yeah the nation that lost 5500+ men since march and 2200+ men since august and this year lost 3% of territory making it a total of 38% under Taliban control are telling us to focus on fight against extremism.
.I got a return offer. You guys shut up and focus on your fight against terrorists and stop " accidentally" killing your own people in air strikes so that Afghanistan can actually be a normal country for the first time rather than continuously try to mess with us and fight with us.

As for the decision. We don't give a damn if its unilateral. We don't need your opinion in creating border controls on our side. Thats interfering in our internal affairs. We will create as many gates, fences and document strictness, as we wabt

Man I have never seem such whining.

LOL no more strategic depth for pakistan:D

Wait and watch baby, india will be out of afghanistan very soon. Look how hisb e Islami forcing northern alliance out of parliament. It will take time. Oh and please keep your eyes on your backyard :D :P party is just getting started kiddo wait and watch.
