The four gang-rape convicts - Vinay Sharma, Akshay Thakur, Mukesh and Pawan Gupta - were tried for beating up and robbing carpenter Ram Adhar, before they raped and brutally assaulted a 23-year-old physiotherapist in a moving bus in Delhi on December 16, 2012.

All four were sentenced to death in the gang rape case by a trial court, which was confirmed by the Delhi High Court. The matter is now pending in the Supreme Court.

Mukesh, Vinay, Pawan and Akshay were put on trial in this case in which charges were framed in July 2013. Charges against Ram Singh abated after his death in Tihar Jail in March 2013.

law structures are meant to be agents of justice... justice as understood in common sense... this has nothing to do with what a judge will pronounce in court.

what sharma said is against justice and humanity... is it not reasonable to expect that lawyers know justice and humanity?? and if they don't, they are as guilty as this young convict fellow and his collaborators.

I am not sure what he said, am simply arguing that its lawyer's duty to represent a client in best possible manner. Under Indian law, if you cant be represented, you will be allowed to go free.
Its not very dissimilar to doctor's duty in saving a patient whether mass murderer or rapist. Or a journalist not putting life of underworld don in danger by going to police with info.

It is interesting that it seems to be universally the case that radical Islamists recruit/prey on inmates (this happens in the UK, France, US and probably many other countries). I'm sure there is a lot of academic research in this area.
