Tea workers rescued a jungle cat, popularly known as Banbiral, from a tea garden in the bordering Shibchandi village under Tentulia upazila in Panchagarh this afternoon.

Quoting locals, Shahidur Rahman, a beat officer of the forest department, said the animal had chased two tea garden workers while they were working.

Later, the duo along with other workers caught the animal and tied it to a tree in front of the house of Union Parishad Member Isamul Haque.

On information, forest officials rushed the spot and brought the animal back to Panchagarh beat office from where it would be sent to Dinajpur Ramsagar National Park.

Divisional Forest Officer Abdur Rahman said the length of the jungle cat is 3 to 3.5-feet while its height is 2 to 2.5-feet.

He said it will be released after being provided any necessary treatment.

How did Pakistani authorities manage to convince the mountain villagers to not kill snow leopards ?
Snow Leopard and humans existed in harmony long before taxation by the government of Pakistan.
What kind of a slow revolutionary are you?

Yes, our strategic ally India, similarly is hosting our criminals and goons in form of ghuspetia, thank you for taking them in because back home they face jail time.

India is our Israel.

Nice that the cat has been released into a national park.

Did a google search for "Bonbiral" and saw a saddening picture of a fishing cat hanged from a tree by villagers in BD.

I think the prime motivator is northern areas education and opportunities have done a remarkable transformation, with the rise of social media people in general are beginning to realize that every animal, every species is necessary for the eco system but then we have other animals bas**** zia imported from our western shi*hole in every criminal activity, every uneducated act 99% of the time it the same animals.

I know people from Murree and around when I speak with them about predators, now they say these predators are "our" and had these animals from the west not damaged our eco system these predators would not have come to hunt our livestock. Most of the time any nuisance predator is reported to the concerned department either the villagers trap the animal or the department and then the animal is released normally in a conservation.

So back to the main topic occasionally we have our share of poachers but once they are caught locals do tend to get even mostly in a bad condition, or the law enforcement imposes hefty fines along punishment. If only we can get rid of the filth coming from our south west which has hunted houbara and deer to almost extinction just so that they could satisfy their harems, we can get our eco system back on track in few decades.

The Dawn article I linked in post# 8 speaks of such a change.

and had these animals from the west not damaged our eco system these predators would not have come to hunt our livestock.
