New Delhi: Notwithstanding border dispute and visa row, India and China on Monday projected a positive outlook of their relations, with China saying that the rise of the two countries together was "irreversible" which no force can stop even as some countries are trying to "drive a wedge".

Chinese Ambassador Zhang Yan said in spite of all kinds of prophecies with "ill-intention", bilateral relations take their own course and move ahead because the two countries know where their national interests lie and how to handle their relations.

"I must point out that not every country in the world is happy to see China and India going closer and prospering together. Some even try to drive wedge between us," he said at a talk on China-India relations in New Delhi.

"I must point out again, China and India's rise together is an irreversible historical trend that no force in the world can stop," the envoy said.

He underlined that the cooperative relation between India and China "poses no threat to others and is not developed at the expense of other countries' interests."

Striking a similar note, National Security Advisor Shivshankar Menon termed as "misplaced" determinism the arguments presented by a few experts about China and India were bound to be strategic adversaries.

Referring to views of a "few vocal experts" in this context, Menon said, "It ignores the successful experience and demonstrated expertise of both governments in managing differences and building on commonalities for over three decades and particularly since the Rajiv Gandhi visit to China in 1988."

The remarks assume significance as these come in the backdrop of irritants in the relationship over border and visa issues and set a positive tone for the Special Representative talks next week.

all buttering only because China right now want to focus on SCS and for that it is sharing pleasantries with other countries.. China always takes down one enemy at a time..

India knows not to be fooled by Chinese WORDS. let us see Chinese ACTIONS. Lets protect and support our Buddies Vietnam and ensure SCS remains international and lets drill oil in the LEGITIMATE VIETNAMESE TERRITORY. Then we will see Chinese ACTIONS and determine whether the WORDS MADE now make sense or not.

Trust only CHINESE ACTIONS, Never its WORD.

Spot on, these are only diplomatic words and mean zilch. both India and China will do as it pleases them and will look at each other as potential rivals. A 1.3 billion and a 1.2 billion population need a lot of energy and there's only so much energy the world can offer, there definitely will be a tussle to secure energy all over the world to feed this huge populations - but the tussle will be under a controlled manner because both are mature countries.

Stop trying to piggyback on our success. India as a country is a massive failure with shameful power outages, starving children, poverty, etc.

Don't kid yourselves trying to put your country in the same sentence as us and claim you are as successful as us. India is atleast 40-50 years behind china.

India is still 3rd world.

I believe Indians are being silly. Because I mean India is an enemy of China.

China has a territorial dispute with India

Good all the more reason to butt out of our business and not to worry right?

You dont have to be an enemy to have territorial disputes. There were other nations that had such problems with China. One by one they solved these disputes amicably.

Can i ask why most Indians seem to try to be together and associated with China so much? It seems some are really scared , they want friendship and also want to be associated with them all the time . I never seen this from Chinese members here . Examples , this thread , other threads like India and China growing powers , We should work together etc , i never seen this from a chinese poster.

This isnt a troll post , this is what i observed.

Valid observation.

The manner in which the poster at No 1 has increased the font in red gives the impression that either he feels we are incapable of reading those parts by our selves or is happy beyond control.

As regards the subject. India like any other nation would like peace & tranquility on its borders. It would be wrong to surmise that they are scared. A little tired of this continued life long hostility - yes.

The signals one gets from China are confusing. In 62 they over ran the same areas they now claim. Yet they unilaterally withdrew then. The Dalai Lama was still in India even then. What has changed now ?

Either they were wrong then or they are wrong now.

India's stand remains the same - The Dalai Lama stays & so does Arunachal.

In this backdrop, any signals of rationality are seen positively as they should.

Hope this helps.

Many want co-operation and peace only because it's only beneficial for India itself.

It was India's own defence minister, that said that China was India's "number 1 enemy".

Funny way of looking for peace.

And talk about self-fulfilling prophecies too.

Mate I suggest you read up on the military reasoning as to why Mao ordered a withdrawal from Arunachal Pradesh. :coffee:

For that you got to understand the sample of people you are basing your observation on.

Why would a Chinese care to come on a Pakistani Forum? Why do Chinese only reply to Indian threads and Vietnamese(recently).

There is hardly a Chinese comment on Pakistans internal situation or military situation. These guys come to the pakistani forum because they more or less get a free hand to debase India. This is called self-selecting group bias.

If you meet enough real life Chinese, you will realize they are more positive towards India than Pakistan.
For a more reliable proof, you can read up surveys of Chinese mainlanders here where you will surprisingly find more Chinese dislike Pkaistan than India.

In all, PDF isn't the real world, theres much more to it.

Cheers!!!
