The difference between America and other countries like India/Pak/China is they reveal issues with their system and feed it back to correct it, rather than simply living in denial of the problem or aggressively trying to curtail it by threatening journalists and controlling media. I am sorry but your reasoning sounds hollow, US too has a history of muzzling media in the name of national security or at least spinning it in such a way that its hard to distinguish b/w truth and lies. Case in point Patriot Act and FISA courts.

We enter a altogether a darker territory when we enter media-corporation nexus where where several news stories are suppressed if they go against the interest of corporates who own the media.

My point is not about we (India/China/Pak) being better than US it's about USA proclaiming itself to be champion of free speech, justice and morality when the reality is far from that. Thus I stand by my statement calling them hypocrites.

Torture being used pretty much in every country is doesn't make it right, that's a fallacious logic. The point us torture is against Geneva conventions and when you continue the culture of torture even though you know you are not getting any actionable intelligence what does that make you?
