But seriously...I did my own personal analysis, from a Lib perspective, on why my Rep and Dem friends vote the way they do, and my personal poll correlates with what political scientists have always known, that when you listen CLOSELY on how people talk, why they vote for their guy rests more on how much they do not like the other guy and less on making comparisons on policies proposed by both guys. The key thing is to let people talk and talk and talk, not interrupt, and watch for key emotional, not technical or 'wonkish', words and phrases. Then eventually, those emotional keywords and phrases count will mount and you will get a better than 50/50 gauge of why a person really vote for his/her guy.

Half of America voted for Frump because they did not like the Clintons, not Hillary Clinton, but both of them. Then once Clump got his traction as president, half of America voted for Bidet because they got tired of Dump's personal behaviors. If I put a ratio on this, between personality and policies, it would be 60:40 weigh on personality over policies. Forty percent weigh on policies is actually serious. It means Americans do pay attention on issues external of the candidates.
