Can our US-2s carry Harpoon missiles or no?
Nope. By constitution(so far anyway), Japan cannot sell weaponized systems I believe. @Nihonjin1051

What India does with them ONCE they are in country is irrelevant. However, there is no need to needlessly equip what is primary a search and rescue aircraft with the Harpoon when the excellent and much more capable weapons platform in the P-8I exists.

Yes it can.

They were designed for SAR, so probably not. There's no evidence to suggest they've been armed by Japan, so India would have to modify the design and software/hardware to arm a US-2.

No hardpoints or weapon stations on this.

The ShinMaywa can be augmented to carry it. In fact the ShinMaywa US-1 is the ASW version of the US-2. Tho the US-2 can be converted for ASW capabilities.... ;)

That clause , specifically the arms ban, has been effectively amended.

Tho I agree with you in that what India wishes to do AFTER she purchased the craft is up to India.
