Jihad should replace democracy to overcome challenges: Munawar Hasan

[INDIAPOSITIVE]

LAHORE: Former Ameer Jamat-e-Islami (JI) Munawwar Hassan on Saturday ruled out the resolution of issues through democratic disposition and instead called for promoting the culture of ‘Jihad’ to overcome the present challenges.

“It is beyond the system based on elections to overcome the challenges being faced by the country,” he maintained while addressing a public meeting here at Minar-e-Pakistan.

He said he would not mince his words in declaring that ‘the problems of the the society in which we live can only be resolved through adopting and promoting the culture of Jihad’.

It is pertinent to mention here that the former JI Ameer had sparked a widespread controversy last year by declaring Hakimullah Mehsud of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and his associates killed in the drone strike as martyrs.

by jihad he means how the world thinks....extremism, terrorism.

The way he's talking. A couple dozen severed heads of people found involved in (both real and imagined) unIslamic acitvities alongside their bodies, at the National Stadium, Karachi, most probably. Now, wouldn't that be a sight?

P.S. It appears that JI had given up the long adopted slogan of "peaceful Islamic revolution" as allegedly envisioned by Madudi and is trying to show its real colors openly.

that's the whole point. Why would he profess any change if he was in power? It's always those who are out of power see evil in the current system! Now.. it would be interesting to see what sort of Jihad this old man is advocating.. would it be to fight against the infidels.. or to fight against his own evil self? later one would be a greater jihad as it would serve the larger interest of Pakistan!

jihad is easily confused by many not pointing at u,if i were u i wouldnt take any one in PK who takes votes in the name of religon seriously

I like my avatar very much. I have little interest in what age it portrays but rather what it infers to.
