What are you talking about ? It is one of the best aircraft in its league. As long as it can take our adversary we are good enough to get with it. Heard in the very same forum that it is better than F16, so we are heading in the right direction.

So what do you suggest for replacing those ~300 F-7, Mirages and F-7pg on one to one basis ? Because Buying J-10 B and SU-35 would be in the quantities of 3 or 4 dozens. But Quality doesnot compensate Quantity which PAF does need now because of how IAF is expanding its Quality with Quantity

Against IAF, I doubt I'd choose either. Best would be an expanded F-16 fleet of upto 200 jets upgraded with SABR AESA and all the latest and greatest EW but that's not an option.

one Airforce can't rely on just 1 kind of Jet to defend or attack 1 is air superiority jet other one is Multi role

look at India why India need MIG-29 Su-30 MKI Jaguars Tejas Rafales Harriers ?? every jet has it's own job and role

we need 400-500 Jets you can't just buy 250 Su-35 and 350 J-10C .....

JF-17 is a Multi role Fighter with BLOCK III coming it'll be much advance then present ....

Su-35 is a air superiority aircraft....
JF-17 will be the back bone of PAF replacing F-7

Guys jf17 is in stage of development... Look at the armament it can use... Its a true multirole fighter... However... There is a serious drawback with thrust to weight ratio and max speed of the aircraft however it is being addressed as blk 3 is targetted to have mach 2... With respect to payload and range it is a light fighter and given pakistan air defense strategy it will not be required to go very deep in enemy territory therefore a light fighter is ideal for pakistan which is easy to maintain and is quite lethal as difficult to intercept at long distances due to low rcs.... This is a small beast which is giving us a much more needed boost we require.... With aesa radar and irst coming in block 3 and mach2 speed... It will be better than f16... Then given its manfuactured in pakistan we can further improve it... Furthermore most important part in current world its an erra of net centric warfare so more local assets we have... More easy will be to integrate with awacs local radars and other assets which are part of greater strategy...

BTW the whole SU-35 thing was a hoax....Pakistan is never getting its hands on better technology than India......Russia did that to scare the shit out of India which was opting for western choices. Chinooks, Rafales etc. Russia has succeeded as we will be buying game changer S-400. Well played Russia.

As a patriotic Pakistani, I am delighted that we have taken a step in local manufacturing of aircraft. If not now than at least in times to come this would take us to a position when we will be able to manufacture high quality equipment.

Below is the critical analysis of JF17.

1. Mig 21 has top speed of mach 2.1 but JF17 is still struggling on mach 1.6

2. There is no use of composite material its full air frame is made of metal, may be aluminum alloy which creats huge radar signature therefore it is an easy target for radar guided Air to Air or surface to Air missile

3. There is no digital fly by wire in JF17 which increases pilot work load and decreases war times survivability

4. Radar range is very shot just under 60 for searching and less dan 30 for tracking missile

5. Good thing is that its very cheap and its range is good

6. It is good for defending role , anti insurgency role and ground attack role

7. You can tern it as a good fighter for countries like Bangladesh Sri Lanka etc etc but for a country like Pakistan who is positioned against India. military might it might not do the job.

8. Lastly and most importantly it's airframe is based on mig 21 which ws not a good dog fighter
