JF-17 Block-3 -- Updates, News & Discussion

.
nope PAC had already declared their plan to produced 2 blk-iii in 2020 but 12 per year form 2021 till 2023, so due to the start blk-iii at end Dec-2020 rather at beginning of Dec-2020 should not be termed as delay IF we keep of COVID-19 situationin mind
All news channels are quoting that first blk 3 induction will be done in 2022. Previously 12 was announced to be inducted in 2021. It's a clear delay of one year.

bhai check previous reports by Alan warnes PAC is only responsible with manufacturing and testing before handing over new air frames to PAF T&E Sqd which before induction in PAF test the platform

Btw congrats everyone and the PAF ..:pakistan:

Coming to discussion over the pic from the ceremony..i guess we shouldn't read too much into that..for all we know it could be simply a deconstructed version of earlier thunder models or basic thunder design model..i guess when the first few blk-3's come into completion is only when we will be able to get the full pic..

Finally some music for ears.

*JF-17A THUNDER BLOCK III PRODUCTION CEREMONY*

The Chief of Air Staff of The Pakistan Air Force Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan has announced that Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) has officially started production of the 4++ Generation JF-17A Thunder Block III advanced fighter aircraft, in a ceremony here today. The Chief of Air Staff also inaugurated the JF-17A Block III’s production and integration facility at PAC Kamra.
The Pakistan Air Force was also *handed over a squadron of 14 JF-17B Block II aircraft, by the PAC*. The induction ceremony was attended by Chief of Air Staff, the Chinese ambassador and the *Nigerian ambassador*.
Last year, PAC officially closed down production of the JF-17A Block II variant and started work on the JF-17B Block II variant, producing 8 of them in 2019 in just 5 months. Now JF-17A Block III production has started with the *first Block III variant to be inducted in early to mid 2021*.
The JF-17A Thunder Block III is an advanced 4+ generation fighter, armed with the latest radars, sensors, *electronic warfare equipment*, cockpit ergonomics, HUD, MAWS, *HMD* and a *strengthened structure* using more advanced composites. The fighter will feature an *advanced variant* of the RD-93 engine previously used, the *RD-93MA*. The fighter will also feature the most capable and longest-range air-to-air missile in the world, the *PL-15 BVR missile* which only China currently uses. The *PL-15 outranges the Indian Rafale’s upcoming Meteor BVR missiles by over 100 kilometres* and America’s latest BVR missile the AIM-120D by over 120 kilometres. The fighter will also feature a new *high off-boresight IR missile, the PL-10*.
Sir, Where did this confirmation come from?
RD-93MA and PL-15?
ACM didn't say that.

. . .
if that poster is accurate I think we are looking at a much redesigned and much improved Block 3 then what we seen for prototype 3000

I mean the 3000 prototype was hardly exciting

anyone remember the ugly refuelling probe which was tested on Block I?

then when it was designed as production on Block II it looked great

I have a feeling that Block 3 will be very modern and well upgraded

Except confirming productiou of JF-17A, RD-93MA and PL-15 are speculations though much wanted.
By the looks of it RD-93MA has to happen otherwise how power requirements of AESA RAADR and weight heavier missiles will be met.

If those specs are true, the Block III makes for a very potent compact and cost effective package. The RD-93MA would make logical sense in terms of engine given the investment in overhaul facility for the RD-93 PAC had made, and a Chinese engine was always an outlier, with greater risk and additional infrastructure capex associated. The PL-15/10 and HMD combo would certainly checkmate the Rafale, but again, assuming those specs are true. @Deino any way of confirming these details with Chinese sources?
