It seems Japanese have finished "Shin-shin" aircraft structure design, now static trials to test airframe strength and design reliability.

The plane was developed like years ago, even before the J-31 was started.
For the designation, this plane is definitely a test demonstrator. The real production version, F-3, will be bigger, and will use a proper thrust vectoring thrust petals, not that exposed flip-flap petals, which will definitely lose the stealth of the plane.

.
How do you conduct “static trials” on a wood model?

Any ideas?

So it will be an all time twin seat.... Good one...

Okay, it's a cool design any everything, but why the name? It sounds so unthreatening and underwhelming. I know it's Japanese and it could mean something ultra cool, but in every other language, it just sounds weird.

ShinShin means something like 'One Mind'. Apparently, it is to signify the determination of Japanese people or something.

Harrier is not a threatening name either but the jet worked out pretty well.

Let see if this thing fly and how stealth it would be. Without US's assistance, it would be a very expensive program that might or might not become are reality.
