Read the letter from one Japanese doctor who's not afraid to go against the current and speak out the truth. Tokyo is inhabitable, and unfit for visitors and tourists.

the scariest part is the fact that the radiation leakage hasn't stopped after all these years, and continues on to this day, so the problem is getting worse and worse as time progresses. I wonder if there will come a time when even Western Japan where this doctor has moved to, will also become uninhabitable as the radiation pollution spreads.

A Tokyo doctor who has moved to western Japan urges fellow doctors to promote radiation protection: A message from Dr. Mita to his colleagues in Kodaira, Tokyo - World Network For Saving Children From Radiation

just food for thought moment

The personal opinion of one physician does not equate with reality, unfortunately. lol.

I mean he provides , perhaps, a qualitative input, but then again is it generalizable? The shear fact that there are over 30 million people who live in Greater Tokyo says otherwise.

Again, it's best we evade such articles that are smear campaign in nature. Out of respect.

But those 30 mln people couldn't migrate when Fukushima struck lol. It doesn't take away the problem Japanese people have been facing for the past few years. It's still a nightmare and there's no solution to it even if you look at the other direction.

The solution is closing all nuclear reactors and replacing it with safer more reliable sources of renewable energy such as wind, solar, hydrogen fuel, hydroelectric. And the goal is to realize this by 2025.

And the nuclear waste water?

That issue is actively being addressed professionally by the relevant authorities.
there is no solution.

japan faces 200-year wait for Fukushima clean-up — The chief of the Fukushima nuclear power station has admitted that the technology needed to decommission three melted-down reactors does not exist, and he has no idea how it will be developed.

But the lone doctor is using stats to back his claim. I find this alarming.

"Contamination of the soil can be shown by measuring Bq/kg. Within the 23 districts of Metropolitan Tokyo, contamination in the east part is 1000-4000 Bq/kg and the west part is 300-1000 Bq/kg. The contamination of Kiev, the capital city of Ukraine, is 500 Bq/kg (Ce137 only). West Germany after the Chernobyl accident has 90 Bq/kg, Italy has 100 and France has 30 Bq/kg on average. Many cases of health problems have been reported in Germany and Italy. Shinjuku, the location of the Tokyo municipal government, was measured at 0.5-1.5 Bq/kg before 2011. Kodaira currently has 200-300 Bq/kg contamination."

I was right not to visit Tokyo last year because I was afraid of this.
