JAPAN seizes TAIWAN fishing boat

Japan seized a Taiwanese fishing boat inside its exclusive economic zone on Tuesday, the first incident since Tokyo and Taipei signed a fishing rights accord for disputed waters, the Fisheries Agency said.

The Taiwanese fishing boat was spotted in waters near Taketomi island, part of Japan’s southern Okinawa chain, the agency said.

One of the agency’s patrol ships seized the boat and arrested the captain, it said.

The incident occurred outside the waters that are at the centre of a three-way territorial tussle involving Taipei, Tokyo and Beijing for which Japan and Taiwan have agreed fishing rights.

Under the agreement, Taiwanese trawlers are permitted to fish in waters off East China Sea islands controlled by Japan as the Senkakus, but also claimed by China and Taiwan as the Diaoyus.

Taiwanese are happy to invest and make PRC economic more powerful. Why must we stop it? If they stop investing and pouring more money into mainland China, then that will be a different story. But I don't forsee it happening in another 10 years time.

I think Japan has realise its strategy of discording between PRC and ROC using the fishery agreement is going to be useless after the stupid Pinoy ruin its Japan Grand strategy by drawing both of them closer instead of further away. Becos no matter what Japan do, PRC and ROC are getting closer after this incident, therefore, Japan decide to strike first by disregard the previous fishing treaty with ROC and seize the ROC fishing boat first..

Erm, no. We are currently in a state of civil war and have separated governments. Mainland and Taiwan is legally a single nation; therefore, we don't have administrative power over Taiwan and its related affairs, but we have sovereign right to all Chinese territory. That's why we are in Diaoyu island even though it should have been Taiwen's responsibility of taking care of it.

Then why are you sitting on Tibet? You can simply ask them to invest and they can earn loads if they call back Dalai Lama since loads of people would come to meet him?

The thing is that you CANT attack Taiwan as US supports Taiwan.
