Japan offers India soft loan for $15 billion bullet train

I do wish Japan can get stuck in India.
China should focus on friendly developing countries like Serbia, Indonesia and Thailand.
We do not like to see their ill management derails our new 350km/h EMUs.
We must stay out of India infrastructure especially there is little benefit to be made and full of risks. Not to mention, backfiring. Let Japan takes the risk in India chaotic business environment and red tape.

As what @Spectre had alluded to in his post, there is a fear on Chinese legation's part in regards to Japanese cooperation with India because India is the only country in Asia or in the world that has the capacity to equal and rival China in regards to population demographic, industrial capacity, national harmonization, and strategic deterrence capabilities. Japan's aid to India is thus seen as a threat by some of Chinese legation since Japan's developmental schema in India will ultimately improve India's infrastructure, Indian academic research capabilities, not to mention improved Japanese-Indian defense cooperation will only orient India towards an active role in the Indo-Pacific Oceans. This is a strategic threat and challenge perceived by China and is a slight, tho they (Chinese legation) will not admit to it or try to repudiate it as minor so as to not give legitimacy or significance to India's active ascendancy in world order (which is happening despite Chinese denialism).

India as a continental-sized nation, with a population that will soon exceed China, with the 4th largest GNI in the world, and a massive young population, with inherently unlimited industrial and production capacity. And this nation is positively inclined towards cooperation with Japan, a strategic rival of China's.

So you know the dynamic of that. LOL.

All i have to say is this:

Japani-Hindi Bhai Bhai ! Japanistan - Hindustan ZINDABAD! ;)

If the Indian government handles it right, they should let China and Japan fight it out. Politically and emotionally they want Japan to have the business. But, China's power is just too great to be ignored. The most likely scenario is both China and Japan will end up getting a piece of the pie, a huge, huge one that is :coffee:

Stop day dreaming.
Indian leadership was clever enough to turn the fight against you both.
India will give the contracts to the bidder who does both Building and funding.
Since the Chinese said they cannot fund the project it was given to Japan.
Even in future the same trend will continue.
If you want a piece of the pie you have to meet the requirements of the buyer (India).
Simply just power will not work.

I am happy this project went to Japan who are the real pioneers of HSRs for so many years.

This is the key point, if the preferred deal is sale bundled with investment as reported in the news, then it surely belongs to the only contestant, i.e. Japan, if it ever materializes.

There is no point for China to further engage in the negotiation other than acquiring info or gaining experience in the process. Note, this investment scenario is largely different from countries like Russia, Indonesia which are way more developed, hence sale deals may go along with heavy investment.

It is not India didn't develop.
The new Government is spurring foreign investments through all possible means.
The vendor best for business is chosen.
I congratulate India for boldly turning down the Chinese at this level.
If China comes up with a more reasonable deal India must respect it and go on with the Chinese also.
We are not Pakistan to lay red carpet for you at any cost !!!

To all the detractors of Japanese HSR, i will post HSR in Taiwan (Japanese technology) and the ones in the Japanese Fatherland Proper. Enjoy ! And hope all will have an enlighten subjectivity of inherent truths regarding our technological abilities and prowess. Japan INVENTED Shinkansen, lest we forget. :)

The question is: Was High Speed Rail really invented by Japan as one claimed?

:coffee: Way back in the early 50's the European had already started evaluating high speed railway e.g. the French National Railway with their powerful CC 7100 electric locomotives. And so was Germany with their DB class locomotive.

:lol: The original idea of Japan High Speed Rail was BORROWED (Today the detractors including Japanese called it stealing - :sick: LOL It funny it is merely over a couple of decades the thieves now regarded themselves inventors and others who did the same thieves) from the European way back in 1955.

In 1955 the head engineer & his team of engineers from Japan National Railways engineers attended a 6 month training program organised by France. When they completed their course, they returned home to Japan with many BORROWED IDEAS and TECHNOLOGIES and started working on Japan High Speed train project. In the process they ordered many components e.g.the alternating current motors for rail traction, undercarriage gears and mechanisms, etc.

Next they disassembled all the part of these component, study, reverse re-engineered, researched then improvised on their new products.

With the support from the Japan Government, started the first commercial High Speed Railway line and called it Shinkansen.

AND now the IGNORANT detractor claimed that Japan invented High Speed Railway ignoring TGV, etc.

:-) It is well known fact then that Japan was regarded the world biggest COPYCAT way back during the Meiji era up to the post WW2 era.

But the truth is we cannot called them COPYCAT as apart from the earliest time Japan did not copy it from bolt to nut. They were clever as they merely re-invented the wheel and improvised on existing products.

So it is strange as to why is the POT is calling the KETTLE black?

As a Swedish Railway consultant discovered on his recent trip to China: To him, the Chinese HSR railway technologies are more advanced then those from Japan. But that again is a matter of opinion. I would not debate on who is more advanced.

Well once agin, the ground test is the best.

Example: Try putting a coin on its rolling edge in the window with both China HSR and Shinkansen at 300 kph and see which coin will roll off first.

But despite their massive, non-stop smear campaigns our products are still being sold all over the world. The reason is truth will always prevail. The business people and actual consumers understand the product and the cost.

There is no question that India is a vast country with unlimited market potential. We must not be intimidated by our enemies' ill intentions and lose sight of the big picture. We have to be patient and stay in the game.

I nver said I was worry. I know that it best interest for China and India if India choose Japan for its infrastructure.

Japan claim many things but most are actually copies of western inventions.

will just get lollypop now as priority of this government is to reduce the trade imbalance with china , so imports will be drastically cut down eventually .

That's a valid point but what I am really concerned is if something goes wrong due to mismanagement or the like all the hell will break on China.

India will not necessarily be understanding, given that politics is very populist.

In those situation, Japan is more able to weather the storm because the Western press will not pick on them due to geopolitical factors.

I am in favor of China working with more friendly governments and peoples. If risks are to be taken, better take them in those countries. India seems to be good for risk-free business for China.
Your own HSR trains are derailing and killing scores in your own country, address that first before conjuring up self-serving hypothetical scenerios.

China should not compete projects related to Indian or VN infrastructure. Let em pay more to the Japanese.
The irony being they (Japanese) are offering far more favourable deals (lower discount rate, longer payback period, more local sourcing of labour etc) than China.
