Japan-based TV vendors such as Sony and Toshiba have plans to start using 39- and 50-inch LCD TV panels made by Taiwan-based panel makers AU Optronics (AUO) and Chimei Innolux (CMI), according to industry sources.
The sources said the vendors have been impressed with the success of 39- and 50-inch TV models throughout Asia, especially in China, and that Sony has plans to release new 39-inch TV models while Toshiba plans to put out new 39-, 50- and 58-inch models in the upcoming months.
The sources added that AUO will most likely provide panels to Sony due to the good relations between the two companies; however, the sources did not specify which panel maker will be the provider to Toshiba.
AUO and CMI's reported future cooperation with the Japan-based vendors will come at a good time since China-based panel makers are increasing LCD TV panel production as well as working more closely with China-based TV vendors.

So I'm guessing Japan is really doing not so good recently in the TV market. More good news for our Taiwanese brothers xD
