joke of the century, Kashmir issue has no sectarian undertones at all....dont you know that the leader of Hurriyet Council is a Shiia (Syed Ali Geelani) and he is revered by tens of thousands of Muslims in Kashmir including Sunnis. Your information about "increasing divide" is invalidated.

In fact I remember 2 years ago a Muharram procession was banned by the cowardly occupation forces and many Sunnis (as well as Sikhs and Kashmiri Pundits) protested. Ground realities are ground realities, dont believe everything Times Now tells you



One could actually apply more of said logic to india - Most Kashmiris want nothing to do with india, hate to identify themselves as "indian" so why should india fund a 3.5-4 lakh troop presence (and the logistics involved) in a land where they are never welcomed and are in fact hated - due to oppression and suppression that's been going on for decades?

Why should Pakistan abandon the cause when Kashmiris are pro Pakistan or at least pro-independence? In AZAD J&K and in iOK there is no uprising at all or bad feeling towards Pakistan. I recall reading somewhere that Pakistan only provides moral support to the Kashmiri terrorists.

Pakistan, even in the state it's in, still has plenty to loose over the Kashmir Issue. So its in interest of India to see the status quo drag on. It would be stupid of India to reach some sort of settlement, if the day ever comes.

Actually it is not the governments in India that dictate when religious festivals are done. It is the religious clergies. In many states in India, Muslims clergies said the date was on Thursday, while in Maharashtra, Kerala and Kashmir the people are celebrating the day Pakistan is celebrating.

Looks like the sectarian divide in Kashmir has hit hard on Pakistani. I have been to Kargil couple of times and has seen how the Shia community hate Pakistan. I suggest Pakistanis to brush up their history and the cause of the failure of all past attempts in Kashmir. Yes , it's true that the Kashmiri Shias don't want anything to do with Sunni Pakistan leaving a few on Pakistan payroll ....

What is the big deal? Our offices were closed on Wednesday too. Eid is not known for keep up with the pre-announced date. The sighting of moon is last minute event and hence not possible to shift the holidays at last moments for many.

It's a common thing in occupied regions; regardless of religion - if you are occupying a land against the will of the people; they will resist - that is common sense.


You should look at the polls and surveys of Kashmiris about how they feel about India.
